Battle of Thermopylae

This project was inspired by the graphic novel and film 300.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me for so long as I posted up numerous WIP pictures. It feels strange to have finally finished this and although there are always things that you would like to do better next time around I am very pleased with how it came out in the end.

Usual Q+A for this:
How big is it?
It is 192 studs long, 96 studs deep, and the highest point of the model would take a tower of 70 standard bricks to reach.

How many figures are there?
I have used 128 CMF Spartans and they are facing an army of 375 Persians that I designed myself.

How many parts did you use?
I never kept count although I do know that I had to use more than 6,500 trans blue parts on the ocean alone. I would guess somewhere between 20 and 30 thousand parts in total.

How long did it take to build?
From start to finish this has taken nearly two years to build, however most of that time was actually waiting for parts to come in the post and getting money to buy them! Physical build time added up over that time was probably only a matter of a few days.

Where is it kept?!
I have a 12 foot by 18 foot shed at the bottom of my garden for such creations.

Will you show it anywhere?
I live in England and hope to take it to a Brickish show one day soon, but have to figure out how best to transport it first!

EDIT:
As many people have commented on the waves I would like to comment on this. I did do a lot of research on waves and calm waters often present with lines of waves as represented in the model, some examples:

Even on a stormy sea I found that waves can often present in symetrical lines:

The effect is less obvious in the actual model as well.

Nearly finished!! Just need to track down a few hundred more trans blue on bricklink and add the last of the cliff top pieces (but I have those on route now!). The Persian army is just missing a couple hundred spears and then I can take a finished shot!

Have added more than 1500 pieces since the last update shot, this thing is just swallowing bricks! End is most certainly in sight now.

Ran out of inverted slopes so had to stop for the moment but have a bricklink order on the way so I hope to have even more progress on this in a few weeks’ time!
