Every year, for the January/February full moon, the Beneshwar mela (a Hindu festival) attracts villagers from the States of Rajasthan, Madhya-Pradesh and Gujarat. They come here, in Southern Rajasthan, to worship Lord Shiva at a local temple, and bathe and immerse the ashes of their dead relatives at the Sangam, where both the Som and Mahi rivers meet.
The mela is also a good occasion for trading goods and cattle, watching popular old films, sing, play music and have fun.
The festival is especially popular amongst the Bhil tribal people, who live at the borders of the three States.
