Within 5 miles from the center there are almost 38,000 students.
The opportunity to reach this urban school population was one of the things that attracted Audubon to the project, said Ben Jones, the group's director of education at the center.
"Part of our mission is to pursue audiences that haven't traditionally been served by the conservation movement. We want to bring nature alive for young people who have never been exposed to nature before."

Scaffolding is a temporary framework used to support people and material in the construction or repair of buildings and other large structures. It is usually a modular system of metal pipes (termed tubes in Britain), although it can be made out of other materials. Bamboo is still used frequently in Asia.
The plane above casts a rectangular shadow across the broad asphalt steps, recalling the mourning bar worn on police badges when an officer is lost. Within this shadow the badge numbers of fallen officers are illuminated, projected by the rays of the sun. The removed stainless numerals, like reversed stencils. are mounted and given to the officers' families." ~ from record architects site
