This was a scenic stop in the Black Hills. I remember watching my mom take this photo. Our '36 or '37 Dodge Sedan with roof rack is closest diagonally parked car in mid-view. It was painted dark green, and would cruise a steady 45 mph without overheating. But, we did have to carry about 4 water bags hung on the front bumper just in case. We actually had a use for bumpers in those days. We also had a sort of a/c. It looked like an old Hoover floor vac, open in the front with a diaper stretched inside; it hung between the front passenger door window & frame. Just fill it with water every day to stay cool.

The toy tractor was a Christmas gift to us, but this pix was taken in late 1947 when we got back from Wisconsin. This was in the driveway of our old rented farmhouse near Hanford, CA. Our rent was $5 per month, no utilities included.

Ozark Sunset. I don't know what that means, but the evening winds were cold. Before midnight the breeze turned to warmer Chinook winds. It was 57 degrees F at 6 in the morning on January 16th, 2012. No one here remembers such weather in the past.

These lads have been a couple of my son's best friends since first grade. Landon was The Best Man at Josh's wedding [October 2011 ~ New Mildford, CT], & younger bro, Eli, was an usher. - This photo taken at a rest stop on I-80 in Western Pennsylvania on trip home from Connecticut. These are about the gentlest lads one could ever meet, but you should have seen their antics in an Irish pub in NYC.

Eli sports an 11 inch 5 color neon rainbow Mohawk under that head gear, but that takes an hour or so to do the do. Landon is still in the service, so wears his hair in "regulation".

My DV Palm Camcorder was recording terrible video with awful noise. I took a few shots this morning to test the camera. I was going to delete the video because of the terrible quality, but decided to try editing it anyway just to practice making a video with Adobe PremierPro; this was my first attempt with this software, and the only video I available. I hoped to use a different camera and get some better clips, and I intended to replace this awful footage asap! Sadly, Lola ran onto the highway just a few hours later and was hit by a truck. She truly was a lovely dog, and a wonderful friend!

Christmas '08, Muscatine, IA. I spent the holiday with my Grandmother's 1st cousin's youngest daughter. Her mother & my grandmother finished college together in 1904. Riding around with a 91 year old dame who is looking at Christmas lights can be very exciting, if you know what I mean.

What a great place to sleep! The Tanker at far end of dock is off loading caster oil from India which is being pumped into tanks on left. I got a fine night's sleep before loading for delivery in Calgary.
