The male is unmistakable, with his reddish underparts and a blue-grey cap.
Horse Tail Falls ~ Trio

StevieC-Photography posted a photo:

Three shots from my last visit to Fairlie Glen, I scouted out several new sets of falls.
--
This set of falls really caught my eye, the water trail at the bottom of the shot reminded me of a horse tail so hence the title.

I carefully made my way down the waters edge so I could work my way back up the falls.
--
Using a circular polariser to give movement in the foreground water and falls.
--
Following previous comments and feedback, portrait mode seems to be prefered.

So I made an effort on my last outing to shoot some portrait mode shots, I feel they do seem to suit the wide angle lens.
Often confused with the Greenfinch, but the latter is bigger and lacks the dark streaks.

Last shot from my recent trip up to Glasgow.
--
This is the Clyde Arc (known locally as the Squinty Bridge), a road bridge spanning the River Clyde in the City of Glasgow.
--
A prominent feature of the bridge is its innovative curved design and the way that it crosses the river at an angle, it also boasts some nice LED lighting which change colour.
--
A wider angle shot exposed for 15 seconds.
A must to be seen Large on Black
Does anyone know how many colours it cycles through ?
I have only seen Purple, Blue and Red.

A male Lesser Redpoll posing in partial shade at my local RSPB reserve at Lochwinnoch.

This tiny finch is only slightly bigger than a blue tit, streaky and brown with patches of red on its head and breast. They like to hang upside down to feed in trees.
--
The UK's birds are split in to three categories of conservation importance - red, amber and green.

This species is listed as Red Status, meaning it is the highest conservation priority with species needing urgent action.

They are such beautiful birds to see, and I hope their numbers increase to ensure they survive for future generations to see and enjoy.

This image was taken at the top of the Glen at Fairlie.
--
Tricky to get to, as there are several fallen trees following the storms we had earlier in the year.
--
I used a circular polariser to allow a long exposure and to capture the movement in the foreground water and the fairly big drop of the falls.
--
Taken using a Sigma 10-20 lens, f/18 with a 10 second exposure.
The male is unmistakable, with his reddish underparts and a blue-grey cap.
Taken at my local RSPB reserve at Lochwinnoch.
Squinty Bridge In Blue

StevieC-Photography posted a photo:

Taken on a recent trip up to Glasgow, I wanted to shoot the Clyde Arc (known locally as the Squinty Bridge), a road bridge spanning the River Clyde.
--
A prominent feature of the bridge is its innovative curved design and the way that it crosses the river at an angle, it also boasts some nice LED lighting.
--
A tighter zoom shot exposed for 20 seconds.
