Guanajuato is a beautiful city in Mexico. The colorful houses populate the hillsides. But I noticed on closer inspection that the eye is easily fooled. My long lens revealed broken bricks, clothes hung out to dry, dogs walking about on flat roofs, rotoplas water collection vessels atop every house and more. It's a very interesting slice of life to view in a long lens.

Taken from a taxi as I was was leaving this city in Mexico. This agent was eyeing the rooftops as other agents and a dog entered a home along the street.

The Sotiile Theater in Charleston South Carolina is a beautiful venue. The historic theater provides an intimate setting with only 785 seats.

An artist uses their brush strokes to indicate more than is really there. They don't paint every detail in rocks and trees for example. The best digital cameras can easily capture the beautiful fine detail in a leaf. I love observing that detail but capturing detail can merely be replication not art. I see photos that have filter apps applied to give the image an artistic appeal. These images are often much more visually satisfying than the photo straight out of the camera. My photos are generally not sharp finely detailed images. I've wondered why I don't always seek to produce the detail and color my camera can produce. Maybe the indication of detail is more interesting sometimes. A blurry, grainy subject that requires our mind to assemble the puzzle can make a very engaging photo.

Seen & Posted for Critique To The Photo-Focus Group Is it appropriate/legal to add a quote on a flickr photo. I've had this photo a couple of months. I like to view it. I think the composition might be improved by cropping some of the overpass but I also like the lines it creates.

I find so much character in the faces of the people here. He was not interested in my photographic attempts. I imagine that the pencil in his hair has something to do with his work. Maybe a carpenter,
craftsman of some kind.

I helped a friend take portraits at her daughter's school. As we were setting up, I took a couple of test shots of her. Flash and portraiture are not my strong suit but I was pleased enough with it.
