Photograph shortlisted for "Democracy in Action", a competition organised by the Welsh National Assembly and displayed in the Senedd (Senate). This is the reflection of a sign for disabled parking in the rain on the blue pavement outside Morrison in Newtown. That vast areas at supermarket car parks are dedicated to the disabled is surely one of the most democratic actions, one that will hopefully be followed by more laws to allow the disabled greater equality. Photograph shortlisted for "Democracy in Action", a competition organised by the Welsh National Assembly and displayed in the Senedd (Senate). Disabled parking - one of many democratic decisions to follow that will grant the disabled people greater access to all those places able-bodied people take for granted. Where I come from (Finland) the areas for disabled parking aren't even half the size of the large areas you find in Britain. While this may not be typical of Wales, I am hoping that the Welsh assembly makes wise decision about accessibility for the disabled and supports the equality of everyone regardless of their condition.
