I found this little friendly insect in my garden while shooting with my newest acquirement, an old Nikkor 50/F1.2.
No modifications, tubes or artificial light for this shot, just manual happiness. This lens definitely brings out the best of my D90! Amazing sharpness at F2 and it can absolutely be used wide open. A beautiful 9-blades aperture and therefore bokeh.

I've just created a set for this lens, so stay tuned ;)

Novoflex 400mm F5.6

The Novoflex 400mm F5.6 rapid focus lens might not be brand-new, but it's an affordable long focus objective with a beautifil aperture and therefore bokeh. It is hold much like a rifle and therefore relatively stable. Thanks to bellows it can get quite close to the subject. The picture above shows F16, by the way.

For a more convenient experience with my D90 I made some modifications:
-The Nikon adapter is sold for more than I paid for the whole set so I modified a T2 adapter to fit the Minolta-adapter it came with.
-The Dandelion Chip enables metering and focus confirmation.
-The set I bought came without the original second grip so I used an old camera-grip. The attached shutter release cable enables shutter control with the left hand. The whole grip can be folded for transport.
-An seatbelt for the camera provides extra-safety!

Have a look at the comments for a journey with the set. Some of the below photos are shot with the Novoflex 280mm F5.6 lens. The 280 is sharper than the 400mm (at least I think so) and with the bellows you can focus as close as 1m, almost macro.

Thanks, Light❖ for the id and extra info! It's an Meloe Violaceus, "Blister beetle", or "Violetter Ölkäfer" in german, which can produce poison on the legs. The active component of this poison is also known as the aphrodisiac from the "Spanish Fly".

Although it looks like this little fellow wants to shake hands, it was actually climbing down a tree. I know it has motion blur, but I liked it anyway. What do you think?

A bit late this year, but now everywhere blooms appear, I love it.

I made an overview of my collection of optical equipment and noticed I have more adapted, somehow "special" lenses than ordinary Nikon-Mount glass. (I never counted them before) That's because I'm infected the photography-virus but sitll trying to make bargains. And I'm having fun with tinkering!

The setup I'm currently playing with is a Rodenstock Rodagon enlager lens 105/F5.6 mounted on bellows (on the D90 in the picture). It can focus to infinity(!) and makes great 1:1 macros! See an example shot here!

The upper row shows my 7 Objectives from the Tamron 10-24 to the Walimex 85/F1.4.
The lower are toys I adopted and some teleconverters.
The 30 years old Novoflex 400mm rapid focus lens got the most beautiful aperture I've ever seen. I didn't even know an aperture could be beautiful before ;D
It's equipped with a Dandelion chip to provide Auto-Exposure and focus indication. A cable release and a second grip is connected to a monopod to get a minimum of shake and a maximum of flexibility.

I'm curious, how many lenses do you own for your camera?

I'm so in love with fast lenses! And I'm addicted to my ancient, manual Fujinon 50/1.4 which comes with lensflare but without the ability to focus any further than 2m. But it renders the colors so lovely and I can get really close to the subjects.

Sometimes seeing animals in the zoo makes me sad. This rather unhappy-looking pot-bellied pig lives in a local zoo close to Stuttgart, Germany.

Shot with a Nikon 80-200/2.8. Heavy, but so nice glass!

Almost every tourist snaps some photos at the Neckar bridge in Tübingen, Germany. I know it longer, but I was amazed by the golden light. It's a single raw image taken with an Olympus XZ-1 compact camera, processed in Lightroom.

A new building of the University of Tuebingen (Germany).
It is still unfinished, but I like the modern look of the whole new area. I was nearby quite often, but this was probably one of my last visits.

It is a HDR image taken with an Olympus XZ-1 compact camera. Three images bracket +-1.7Ev shot in raw, Photomatix and Lightroom treatments, slightly cropped. Hope you like it.

Favourites and all written comments, including critics are highly appreciated! Unfortunately flickr now forbids third-party images in the comments section, so my getty badge is gone and posting more images of a serie limits my non-pro account image pool size...

Levitation (+1)

When the leafs are falling and you can feel the magic in the air it's probably the best time to train your levitation skills...this was my first approach.
I learned that a higher camera viewpoint may be easier to handle in post-processing, but I'm quite happy with the results.

We can barely walk in the forests without stepping on mushrooms these days. Is'nt it beautiful?
