Went out on a fun rain photo session with Kevin Corrado yesterday to see if we could get some good water based shots. I ended up mostly going for a group of 5 spiders all making perfect circle webs in the woods near the falls. Times like this make me wish I had the 105mm macro or Canon's 5:1 lens.

Well went out shooting with Smith-of-Blades last night in search of just stuff that's known about the town. Ended up going to the light house as it's the first thing to think of. Found a new shortcut there as well, this one came out alright but first time I've encountered hot pixels and LE noise. Might be from light sources behind the eye piece mixed with the artifical light from the nearby shore but it's a big hassle even at iso 200, don't need to show the iso 1000 one here lol. Also reminds me no more of my quick exif notes, Flickr changed to show additional info over there like I used to do ->

Tried out some studio shots with my friend Kevin tonight. Had some fun learning off camera flash with an umbrella and stand, got some neat stuff and this was my personal pick of the ones I took. May be a bit dark but I like the minimal feeling of this type of shot.

Just got my D800 in today so I was just roaming around the household testing out settings and features. Figured I'd just post a snapshot I got, I'm loving the 28-70 more on FX than DX with the wide angle capability now, good thing with crop modes I don't need to give up either. I know eyes were out of focus and iso is high, wanted to test dof at 2.8 with the live photo preview, a little gimmicky as before but at least theres 2 different live views now.

Went to NYC for the day with family and got to see some sights of the city. Was an awesome day and the weather cleared up great. I'll be uploading other edits in following days. Also going for my own fun and style in these edits, not going to go for traditional technically correct stuff.

Went out today for a good 4-5 hour long photo session with my friend. Went to varying locations and found it a good test for the new sigma. The lens is tack sharp even at F2.8 as seen here with the leaf, corners are even great as well. I always find myself trying to frame the whole and end up churning out some miscellaneous detail, guess I should've taken the 10-20 lol. Also 4 stop OS is the bee's knees

Went on a small photo session with my friend tonight in Essex, wanted to use my new 50-150mm F2.8 OS from sigma here but ended playing with the wide angle since it's night and suited the subject more. Wasn't happy with much but picked this one to post out of the bunch. 14 bit RAWs show their worth for night time shot editing I'll admit.

Ones of my favorite shots from Seaside, it's not one I setup, nor were any of the other ones since it was basically walk and shoot inside the structure trying not to overstay but had fun just processing this one a bit with the odd effect the frosted glass had on the highlights.

Found some ancient fuses on the counter-top of one of the break rooms. With some of the styling I just thought of Bioshock and Rapture. Check out my friend's take on it. He was armed with only an 18-55mm kit and I had only my 10-20mm, it was pretty challenging with the wide especially with the low light and lack of tripods.

None of them turned out decent at all, with this being no exception with the horribly done HDR but I felt I had to upload at least something. Plan on going out and getting new locations soon on my days off from work so hopefully then I'll get something new and exciting for both myself and the stream here.

Was doing Mother's Day shopping and decided I'd add in a supplemental gift of a photos of one of our family's newest dogs, Zeus. He's an American Bulldog and my mom picked him out so I thought this would be fitting, got a few decent snaps even while trying to get him in ok sunlight and holding the leash too.

I figured I'd take a stab at the cloning process, I went over the image with a mellow yellow hipster feeling to make it more organic. Editing the colors was fun, may try another one or so later.

My favorite shot from today, have two more photos I got basic editing done on but they'll be photo manipulations so I'll have to finish and upload them later when I get some more time to do it. This location was spotted by my friend on our way home from Seaside and Harkness. The mist was doing some cool effects as you can see from this and the other shot. There's nothing but land on the other side of the barge but the conditions were superb.

A quick 2 shot HDR of a rather ugly setting next to where I shot the crane. Had to square it to make it more subjectful (just invented that word) and the effect the incoming rain and mist had on the auto white balance on tree line is pretty neat color wise.

The newest addition to our family as of the 18th. His name is Thor as was born on 10/28/11. As you can see he likes the snow lol, he's quite a cuddly fighter so to speak. We'll have to see how big this little guy gets later on.

An equation of boredom plus need of new profile picture results in this. I didn't know what to do here so I tried tethering for the first time. I set this up with me sitting in my computer chair right in front of my computer lol. I had the screen on and everything with an ambient light in my room giving walking light. Had my strobe up on a stand shooting towards the unshown part of my head and a reflector under my desk bouncing back soft light. Turned out ok I guess but I wanted a new pic :p.

Had to go out and redo the shot a bit, came out just about the same exact thing since I shot around the same time, but I wanted to post to froknows and needed more light on the center trunk then was previously available. The color isn't quite the same as my first and second attempt but it came out fine I think. 8 shots this time.

Well besides family candids and such, this was one of only two shots I did with some intention with my new D7000 I got. It's of one of the candles on our dining room table before we had a feast. My mom decorated the surface in pure awesomeness of silver and grey, hence the silver/white bokeh below the candle line. Merry Christmas Everyone
