And I grew up in Alaska. This was the first time the captain had seen them. Everything else will be a let down for him now.

Based on the survey at the end of this blog post, aol.it/fiRzCp I suggested a PA to the passengers was in order.

Also known as 1,200 feet of visibility. Taken this morning on runway 9 in Boston. Minimums for departure on this runway is 1,000 feet.

If you count the runway lights on the sides, they're 200 feet apart. The centerline lights are 50 feet apart.

Many airplanes had to miss the approach as the crosswind limits for runway 4R were too high for an autoland, which was required with this visibility. Heard two JetBlue flights go missed before going over to Hartford, CT.

It was tough to get these shots in the light turbulence. Actual location 53N 50W. It was also tough to get Captain Bill to stop moving around, while looking at the lights. He was blown away. And we owe United 952 credit for pointing them out on the Gander ATC frequency. Since we had the lights turned up, we may have never seen the Auroras had they not mentioned it.

The light from the city (Providence, R.I.) in the background blurs as we bank to the left.

Flying what we call a turn: A one-day trip from Boston to St. Thomas and back.

Also we happen to be in a left turn; the Captain is spinning the heading knob on the autopilot over to the left.

Note the blue lights that appear to 'blink?' I assume it's because they do flicker, but we just can't tell with our eyes. Any other theories? Made for a neat look on the taxi lights.
