This is how I dress to go out and take photos at work (45 pounds of body armor and ammo, M4 rifle, 9mm pistol, Go-Pro on chest and Spider Holster rigged to the armor). One of the guys was nice enough to get a photo of me. I'm standing on the roof of the governor's office building in Farah City, Afghanistan.

Many Afghan families travel from Farah, Afghanistan into Iran to find work. Often times when these families return from Iran they find that their homes have either been destroyed or taken over by squatters.

Refugee/returnee camps have been set up around the province to address this issue and help families get back on their feet.

Farah City, Afghanistan.

I was able to duck out of meeting/leader engagement and roam the streets of Farah City (with security of course) for a little while this day. This is when I was able to get most of the photos of the shop owners/workers that I've posted over the last week or so. This boy with his tea followed me around for a good while. There was a throng of kids actually, but he was the least demanding that a photo be taken of him. I missed the focus a bit on this one, but I still like it.

These Afghan women were attending photojournalism training that my team gave in Afghanistan a couple of days ago. These women have great aspirations of becoming journalists and making a real difference in Afghanistan's future. I wish them the best and hope for their success.

I'm a Navy Hospital Corpsman (medic) deployed in Western Afghanistan - I'm also one of the photographers on my team. The combination of the two assignments gives me unique opportunities to capture photos of all types here.

This is an Afghan policeman being triaged outside of my aid station before being moved inside. This was a busy day as five policemen had been injured (some very seriously) after rolling their truck.

I took this on the way to Lash-e Juwayn in Western Afghanistan. This is looking out the back of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter - the aircrewman has a pretty bad-ass helmet.
