Not Mars. It's another shot of the roadbed where 7th St is being widened in Harrisburg PA. I really like how the photo turned out after uploading to flickr... it seems to jump out of the frame at you.

I couldn't decide which I liked better so I posted both of them (the other version is here). The photo was taken on the day of the 2009 Harrisburg Zombie Walk. We're standing on the Walnut Street Bridge looking north (upriver). It best viewed in the large or the original size.

Taken on the way from Harrisburg PA to a PA CareerLink Symposium in State College earlier this month. The subtle pinks and grays got me out of the car.

This is a composition I intentionally took because I liked the patterns all of the elements made. In some weird way, the lakes also suggest internal organs...

This is an aerial photo of southcentral Wyoming. Here's a link to the location on Google Maps. (For some reason it opens too far southeast. Scroll toward the upper left corner and you'll see the location.)

I like the patterns of the river lines, among other components of the shot. The composition is in reference to those patterns, and the placement and shape of the stubble area in the foreground...

BTW, this photo was shot from an airliner (through the crappy window) using a Canon 400d with the standard kit lens.

This is an image of the southeast corner of Wyoming. There's a pretty odd landscape feature in the lower right corner (see note). Doesn't look real...

Although there are some soft focus areas due to the crappy airplane window I took the picture through, there's still lots of good texture. Take a look at the image in the large or the original size view.

Shadow on the Land

Iowa from the air... Notes on the photo identify two cities...

This cloud shadow pattern attracted my photographic attention. A newfront must have been moving in. That pattern, combined with the line patterns on the landscape, got me excited. (Ok, so it doesn't take much...) One of the things that clinched it for me was something that doesn't show up very well in the image. In the city in the foreground, the sun shone brilliantly on on dozens of the tiny surfaces in town.
