Being home again is strange. Furniture is gone, rooms are almost empty... the sparseness is alien in many respects.

But there are new places for light to play in and new interactions... at least that's one good thing that will be fun to explore.

Like an environmental piece, documenting the changing landscape, but all taking place within the same walls.

Out of habit now, I kind of just make all of my plates aesthetically pleasing. I guess it's the general vegetable content, since veggies tend to be pretty vibrant. People would always look at my food at school and be like "oooh! So many colors!" haha

Anyway, I made this salad yesterday and thought it turned out really pretty, so I took a photo! The tomato especially was delicious.

Tomato, romaine, spring mix of various greens, kalamata olives, chickpeas, "mediterranean salad" of some kind from Whole Foods (feta cheese w/other stuff), a little balsamic vinegar, and some fresh lemon juice!

I apologize for all of the selfies recently... unfortunately, no one else really seems to want to spend an hour trudging around in the woods when it's ten degrees out and snowing. I'm still waiting for the feeling to return to my hands and feet. Sigh.

More to come later, I guess. Not totally sure how I feel about this but I'm liking it more than I was initially.

So I already did one with me, but my sister came home for Christmas! Yay!

She's my favorite and it was definitely not enough time, but anything at all is nice :D My mother has been trying to get us into a photo together for years, so here it is.

I threw in the globe as a kind of color accent, but people have been reading strange things into it... doesn't mean anything! Haha.

So... I want to do some kind of project while I'm home. Since the house is kind of in disarray, there's a lot of blank wall space. Things are moving around and disappearing, and I feel like I'm watching the past 20 years of my life be physically packed away into memory. Which is fine, and inevitable.

But why not document those things?

Anyway, I guess I'm just going to be attempting to shoot some of my favorite things, or just things that have significance.

As far as this goes, I love old globes, and this is really just two things I'm looking forward to in the future - going to Chile next year, and the Art History class I'm taking next semester :)

Just a quick snap before I went bowling with Kevin and some old high school friends. I made the mistake of wearing a skirt and sucked it up BIG TIME due to my inability to bend over enough to have good technique. Oh well, still had fun!

Also, eek, I've gotten so many comments over the past few days... I promise I'll respond to you all soon; I would hate to seem ungrateful.

For Kenna, because it's her favorite book, and because I ordered a copy of it and I'm loving it. A lot. If I had enough energy I would probably just read it straight through (instead, I fell asleep on it last night).

The fan motion was intentional... seemed a little more lively.

My sister on the Staten Island Ferry (yeah, she said she's wanted to ride it forever, so we just went and rode it there, turned around, and came back, haha). Free fun! Zomg!

Anyway, we had a ton of fun and I miss her.

I haven't been reading enough lately, or for the past year. It breaks my heart a little. When I was younger, I would devour books - one every day or two. I think my brain misses being fed like that.

Of course, I read all of the time during school, but none of it was for pleasure, really (and the ones I read that way were few and far between). It's not the same. And a large part of it was depressing. A year of political classes is enough to dim anyone's sunny outlook on life.

Anyway, I'm trying to remember to be a little more light-hearted right now.

(the slight deviousness is intentional)

My sister got a cat!

She's wanted one for ages (and by that I mean like... 15 or so years, ever since the family cat was stolen/ran away/whatever and we found out she was allergic to them) and I'm super happy for her :) I can't wait to go visit her and meet it. She sent me a picture and it's adorable. I'm totally jealous. I want one!

I'm sorry, I know I use this thing all the time, but I can't get over how wonderful it is.
