A beautiful Friday evening on the Ochils birdwatching, I was here three weeks ago watching an Osprey fishing, unfortunately it has probably moved on now, but there was plenty birdlife around, what with the cooked chicken and wine, me and my partner had a great start to the weekend.

I had the most wonderful day on Ben Venue yesterday in glorious sunshine, I have been up here many times but i think this is the first time since 2006, this is taken somewhere on the ridge between the two summits.

By now i was really enjoying the walk, the beauty around me was breathtaking and my photos do not do it justice, the contours of the snow formed some amazing shapes, such a transformation from my last visit and i wonder if i will ever see it like this again.

I was now getting further into my walk, and the snow was getting deeper, the fence posts which are about a metre high would soon disapear altogether, much more snow lay ahead.

Bandeath Munitions Depot 44-48

Bandeath munitions depot lies in the village of Throsk, near Sirling.The facility began as an Admiralty Depot during World War I, after which it remained in use and became a Royal Naval Armament Depot (RNAD) during World War II. Over thirty of the buildings are still standing, situated by the River Forth, the munitions would be loaded on to puffers to supply the British fleet, its a nice little walk with a surprise amount of wildlife about.

When i looked up at the Ochil hills today, only a few patches of snow where still hanging on defiantly, a stark contrast to a couple of weeks ago........sigh.

Up on Ben Venue I had a pair of Ravens circling me for a bit, pretty inquisitive birds, maybe i looked a candidate for a heart attack or something, unfortunately my camera was in my bag most of the time to get a close up shot of them.

Ben Venue has two tops, this is heading to the more popular of the two, which has the cairn but is slightly smaller, it does not really matter both give amazing views for its size...Ben Venue is Gaelic for...the small mountain..and it lives up to its name.
