Approximately 40 shots stacked together through photoshop to create a 2 hour star trail out at our favourite south west Queensland cattle property :-)

The ambient light in the foreground (dead grass, tree's and fence) is courtesy of veranda lights we had been trying to block in the previous nights.

During a test shot... I enjoyed the colours so much I decided to let it go...

Unfortunately, the grass (which looked like straw there and comes out like that in the photo), is overexposed on the right hand side closest to the veranda... but anyhoo... it's all trial and error.

For What It's Worth.... I figure by posting a f**k up, we can all learn something :-)

Nothing special... just the beautiful wide open spaces of Australia in all her glory.

The wind, gently blowing through the long grasses, the intensity of those blue skies which seem all the more vibrant out here, clouds that dance across the skyline and appear to go on forever... I want to go back, more and more, every day.

South West Queensland.... how I love you and your moo's... I think this is where the heart of Australia is.

I see this image and am reminded of the lyrics from Fleetwood Mac's Sara...

Hold on, the night is coming
And the starling flew for days and days...

The night was coming... and with birds all around... it seems only fitting to give it this title.

I can't wait to return to this rural paradise.... my soul feels so at home and at peace here.

(Might have to look at investing in our own cattle property one day Kev).

A star trail taken on a property in South West Queensland between Goondiwindi & St George - this place has become very close to our hearts.... it's getting harder and harder to come home.

Big thanks to Aaron, Veronica, Kyle, Jayden and Fluff & Stuff for having us.

The name "Spirits of the Outback" came about with the cloud that blew through this shot, but I think it adds a certain outback mystique to it. I hope you guys like it. :-)

A rusted out ol' truck at Rubyvale ..... me and the 'ol girl got acquainted during this 45 minute exposure.

She's had a hard life in the sun... and even though there is no life left in her now, she loves the peace and tranquility of where she has idled to a stop.

With a view like this, who can blame her?!

Two sisters, on the adventure of a lifetime.... a trip to the Australian Outback!

This star trail was taken at the Australian Stockmans Hall of Fame, Longreach, Queensland, Australia - the Heart of the Australian Outback.

My sister Tan & I, huddled together during a very cold winter's night, to get this capture. We were both so excited.... and so happy to be together.... lying on the ground, side by side, watching a magnificent night sky that only the Australian Outback can provide.

A night glittering with stars...a million stars! The kind of stars you don't see near city lights.... we gazed in awe at the wonder of this night.

The ambient light you see across the tree's is courtesy of the Hall of Fame exterior lights and a little light painting on our Man :-)

The Milky Way lends itself to the spirit of the man, winding it's way from him, up to Heaven....

One of the most memorable nights of my life!!! Love you Tan.... I'll remember this trip forever.

Sundown.... truly is a magical time of day out here. Such intense and ever-changing colours...This place holds a special place in my spirit.

Here are a few of my old favourite pics revisited .... taken with my trusty old Nikon Coolpix point and shoot, these images were captured on a relatives cattle property out west between Goondiwindi and St George (Queensland, Australia) in 2010.

I loved the wide open spaces, the intensity of the colours and the magic of this wide brown land we call Australia....

We'll be visiting this precious place again in September... this time, with my Nikon D90 SLR - and I am a wee bit excited!

Hubby walks quietly amongst the trees and stands close to the treeline.... scouting for feral pigs with his .308 Ruger.

Dusk is a prime time for feral pigs to be on the move and so while I'm busy "doing my thing", I capture the boys "doing their thing".

Turns out those big grunters were in luck ... they survived another day.

A small watering hole in the quiet of the afternoon, as the sun set behind us... on this barren cattle property.

Beyond this watering hole are open plains for 15,000 acres.

I like to think about these big feral pigs, congregating at this watering hole - like us humans do at our favourite pub at Happy Hour - drinking, grunting, talking shit hehe.

Not a breath of wind.... just beautiful peace and tranquility - bar the occasional squawk of galah's.

Take me back, take me back!

My father in law checks the scope of his .303, scanning the landscape for big black feral pigs.

Feral pigs are pests on rural and outback properties and unfortunately have a bad name for stealing the feed of properties that run cattle, sheep and other livestock - so unfortunately, they should be destroyed.

I normally take my own .22 Ruger with me on these hunts... more for protection as I couldn't kill a living thing (sook!) - and then sling my camera over the other shoulder!

On this particular afternoon, I left my Ruger at the house and instead wanted to focus solely on capturing the beauty of where we were.

I don't mind the silhouette created against such a beautiful sunset sky :-) What do you think?

The Tuning Fork

A surprise storm blows up in the west unexpectedly..... we grab the kit and run for the 4WD.... the thrill of a storm chase! The heart quickens, the excitement builds.... please God, let there be a fantastic lightning show!

We set up..... and capture some lightning as it explodes and crashes to earth.

To the professional photographers, this is overexposed.

To me, it is a powerful tuning fork, direct from Heaven.... incredibly bright, phenomenal and electrical!

I hope to get the chance to redeem myself this storm season.... with more opportunities to chase these incredible forces of nature and capture some more lightning.... I hope with practice, lightning perfection might come ;-)

The last afternoon with Tan on our sister trip... and she took me to a local creek in the remote mining town of Dysart, central Queensland, Australia.

The sun was setting... two bulls nearby were enjoying a nibble on some lush grass... and we were relaxing in the beautiful, tranquil surrounds.

This is another pano I wanted to try... strange composition but I love it's funk-a-delish-ness :-) 6 images, merged into one.

The creek itself was straight ~ I was standing near the tree and mainly shooting the sunset to the left... but thought, ah, I might try another pano .. this was the end result....It's different, it's Aussie and it's that time of day I adore... sunset.

I look at this tree and just want to lean against her... touch my face on her bark, breathe in the fresh air, close my eyes and hear the gentle running of water.

Not long after this shot, one of the moo's walked down the embankment, onto the road and across the causeway where the creek was freely running.... and Cattle Creek was born.

Table Nine waits for it's guests to arrive.... until they show up, me and my dear friend, Miss Nikon, decided to take advantage and photograph this awesome setting.

The Cattleman's Bar and Grill, Longreach, Queensland, Australia.

Ooooh baby it's cold outside.... winter in the Aussie outback may be warm during the day, but it's a tad chilly as the sun fades.

You are guaranteed warmth .... whether it's the heaters inside or the intake of a good wine.... we had a good night here. The damper was beautiful!

These little windmills were so cute too... ;-)

My last afternoon with my sister Tan on our Outback Adventure.

This particular afternoon was our last one together before I returned to Brisbane.

This little creek runs through a property not far from her place in the little mining town of Dysart, central Queensland.

What a gem of a spot this turned out to be.

The gorgeous setting sun, the peace, tranquility, the colours.... so beautiful.

The reflection kept me spellbound... it was magic.

Right place, right time... Beer O'Clock at an Aussie Waterhole alright.

Ice Ring Vapour Trail

Ice Ring Vapour Trail ... this was a very strange moment in the skies above. We were in the cattle yards, playing with Weeklings! (week old calves hehe).

The sky had transformed in a matter of moments and a thunderhead collided with an ice ring - carved up by a vapour trail from a plane... it was unbelievable.
