Mt Rundle Sunrise Banff National Park

Recently I started going through some older files that I had given up on in years past. But with advancements in Camera RAW these days I am able to do some much more with an image. Especially in areas of tonal contrast and noise removal.. this image I had worked on years ago but gave up as it was too noisy when I brightened up the image.. but I gave it a shot again and was able to raise the exposure with minimal noise.. Its like getting to start all over again - its great !! This image is from Mount Rundle in Banff National Park in Alberta Canada..

Mount Robson-Berg Lake Sunrise

Some people asked me if I actually made it up to Berg Lake so I am posting one from the lake.. when I get to the trailhead there was a big sign saying don't leave any valuables in car it will be stolen.. so I was looking at around 35 miles there and back including the scouting.. so with that I had about 100 pounds in my backpack including laptops, iPads, external drives, and then basically everything I had in my car had to be taken in the backpack.. now I am in terrible shape and not a good hiker.. anyways needless to say I almost died !!
to top it off when I didn't think I could go any further I see a Grizzly bear on the trail .. luckily it was busy eating the last berries
I am sure glad I got a goo sunrise out of it !!

I have seen so many stunning images of yellow larches from the Opabin Plateau in Lake O'Hara; this has been on my bucket list for a long time. Trying to time this at the peak of the larches was going to be pretty hard to guess but lucky enough we hit it at just the right time…
Thanks for looking as always..

I first time I saw this area was the work of one my favorite artists - James Kay. This is image is Mount Assiniboine from up on the nub. I stayed here a couple of days and shot this scene in all times of the day.

The "stuff" in the foreground I have been told is cotton grass - which makes for some interesting foreground.
Thanks for looking. I really appreciate it.

It is great to back home for a bit. I have been on the road now for almost 70 days with a day here and there to head back out somewhere else. I am looking forward to taking some time to rest. This is an image from my Canadian Rockies trip. This area can be found in the Tonquin Valley in Jasper Alberta. This is one of the most stunning areas I have ever witnessed. It is roughly 25 km from the nearest road to get here but worth every step/. This set of peaks is known as the "Ramparts". It is rated one of the top ten hiking areas in a recent adventure guide. I ended up there a few weeks after Art Wolfe and his film crew where there. Thanks to my buddy Jason Edlund for showing me around here and helping me with some of the load.
Thanks as always for any feedback.

This is a recent image from a trip to my hometown of Vancouver BC. I have seen this subject shot but I treaded around in the early morning hours looking for a new perspective. I tell you there are a lot of scary people out at 3 in the morning and I had to wait this long to get no traffic in the water which would have ruined the reflections. To get the calm water and sharp reflection I added a 5-stop ND to increase the exposure quite a bit plus some mid-tone contrast in post processing.
Last Remants Of Someone

kevin mcneal posted a photo:

I realize this is not the type of image I usually do but I loved the soft cool tones in an abstract kind of way. I do not expect many people to look at but I had to post I really liked even though I know most wont. This was from a recent trip to Canada to shoot some of the fresh snow in the Provincial Parks but I was not so blessed with very good weather in terms of sunshine. This was an image on my way home as the fog began to lift just as I was going home - something I am sure photographers are used to !

I am trying to get to comment on my fellow photographers and I apologize for not getting around as much as i would like to due to so much recent work - sorry !!!!

Thanks for any comments or critiques
A Surreal Winter Morning

kevin mcneal posted a photo:

I am afraid this might be a big mistake but I am trying to take chances so here goes. This is an image from an sunrise on the mountains in British Columbia. The sun was trying to break through the clouds from the left side. The mountain was full of mist that was coming in and out. The sun created a strong highlight which I choose to not correct as I wanted to convey the impression of the light source. There is a mix of cool tones and a hint of pinks from the early morning light that was present. I realize this image will not work for most people but I am trying to create more of a painterly style to my images.

This was from the coast last night. I do not think have been so upset to miss a sunset like we had over Mount Rainer as I went down to Oregon to chase the sunset that was suppose to be epic there while back at home I missed the best sunset Washington State has seen in years including multiple lenticular clouds
