The Sage Gateshead is a centre for musical education, performance and conferences, located in Gateshead on the south bank of the River Tyne, in the North East of England. It opened in 2004.

The centre occupies a curved glass and stainless steel building designed by Foster and Partners, Buro Happold (structural engineering), Mott MacDonald (building services) and Arup (acoustics), with views of Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides, the Tyne Bridge, and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. Foster and Partners were selected following an architectural design competition managed by RIBA Competitions.

So we've all had a day to get used to the new Flickr! Im slowly getting used to the new interface, but I still have my reservations - The homepage is not good. The large format pictures of my contacts uploads is meaning less people are opening the image itself, and maybe just liking the image and commenting from the homepage (Ive been guilty of this myself !!) Secondly, viewings on my sets have essentially stopped since we now have to open a new tab to view them. I know view counts are not everything, but we all like them right???!!!!! Anyway rant over, lets see what happens :)

Im afraid I'm still going through the archives as just haven't had a chance to get that camera out ! This weekend was taken up at Wembley watching Brentford crash out of the playoff final, emotionally draining!!!!!!!

Another one of my favourite London views to photograph, The cranes on the river by the Excel Centre.

For me, it is the sky that is particularly interesting in this image.

Sorry for another shot of Canary Wharf, but it is the station that got me excited about shooting on the Underground in the first place, so have spent a lot of time shooting there.

I also know that my contact Mark T Simmons posted an incredible shot a couple of days ago from a similar angle, so again sorry for the repetition, but I really quite like this shot, and I hope you do too!!!

Thought I would experiment with making some 7 Exposure HDR images, as previously have only ever gone to 5. I think it brings out a little more detail, but something will have to do some more work with!

I find its always useful to come back to a folder of shots after a while, as you always find something that you missed the first time round!

I couldn't end my Paris series without a shot of the Eiffel Tower!

I was really disappointed that the sky was so bland while we were there, so most of my more close up images were not too great, so here is (hopefully) a slightly different take on a well photographed subject!

This is the now famous bridge in Paris - Pont de l'Archeveche

Its become very touristy, with people selling cheap padlocks on both sides of the bridge, but still quite an impressive sight!

There are varied explanations for the origin of love padlocks. In Europe, love padlocks started appearing in the early 2000s. The reasons love padlocks started to appear vary between locations, and in many instances are unsourced. However, in Rome, the ritual of affixing love padlocks to the bridge Ponte Milvio can be attributed to the book I Want You by Italian author Federico Moccia, who later made it into the film-adaptation Ho voglia di te.
Similarly, an attribution for the bridge Most Ljubavi (lit. the Bridge of Love—now named after the love padlocks) in Serbia exists, where they can be traced to even before World War II. A local schoolmistress named Nada, who was from Vrnjačka Banja, fell in love with a Serbian officer named Relja. After they committed to each other Relja went to war in Greece where he fell in love with a local woman from Corfu. As a consequence, Relja and Nada broke off their engagement. Nada never recovered from that devastating blow, and after some time she died due to heartbreak from her unfortunate love. As young girls from Vrnjačka Banja wanted to protect their own loves, they started writing down their names, together with the names of their loved ones, on padlocks and affixing them to the railings of the bridge where Nada and Relja used to meet.

Im a massive fan of this type of architecture, so La Defense was a dream location for me. Im also glad I got a reflection of the Grande Arche in!!

In the middle of Le Grande Arche, La Defense, Paris

this was my favourite area of Paris that I visited, love the buildings, and the Grand Arche was spectacular!

Thanks again to all my contacts and people who have favourited and commented on my work, managed to get my first two Flikr Explore's this week, so really happy with that. :)

This is another image from La Defense, the financial district just outside of Paris.

For me, I thought this was a striking composition, and I hope you enjoy viewing!!
