We passed this man on his mule and I asked our driver to stop. The rider shouted at me, put his hand to his face but I still took the shot anyway.

A former female prison now used as the Crown Court, York. It stands close to the Castle Museum that used to be a male prison and the nearby Clifford's Tower. Both can been seen within the photostream. For a history of the buildling please follow the link.

This idyllic scene is set on the River Derwent. King Harold fought a famous battle here in 1066. He then marched his men hundreds of miles to Hastings when he lost to William the Conquerer. It changed the history of England forever.

My neighbour tells me that this a a Blackbird chick. ( Perhaps someone could kindly confirm what it is please.) It is sat on the fence that divides our two gardens. The nest was just below his feet.
