Griddled brie cornbread-brisket

fried egg, maple syrup, chili sauce ($14)
- a bit of a cut, pile and smash act given that everything was piled on a moist cornbread wedge (which had a great hearty crust. I'm a muffin top type of girl. This was one of those caramelized crusty edged "cakes"). The brie cheese and the sweet maple laced chili sauce actually added vs. overwhelmed the combination. Quite tasty and good.

Background:
bread pudding plus wild blueberries, maple syrup, bacon ($10)
- surprisingly light and well balanced. Not at all heavy and much preferred over standard French toast.

Salt flavoured ramen topped with pork shoulder, green onion, canola flower, Kikurage mushroom (black fungus), cabbage, ½ a seasoned soft-boiled egg ($9.50)

As usual, I added extras. here bean sprouts and seasoned bamboo shoots.

The flavour was actually pretty mild (I don't know if the recipes at Raijin had changed or was it just that this "limited time" ramen was less rich than others).

Makes for a good snack or a +1 side supplement to a bowl of Raijin's ramen noodles.

I like the balance of the braised pork belly with the slightly crisp par-cooked bean sprouts, the shower of nori, sesame seed and sliced scallions on rice.

A pound of shrimp tossed in an arbol-garlic butter, Cancun style ($16).

Parboiled white shrimp tossed in a nice spice. I'd imagine how incredible it would be if it were gulf shrimp.

Each guac is made to order in a lava rock molcajete. Choose spicy, medium or mild ($8).

Had the spicy. It wasn't that spicy, which was nice.

I also had a craving for guacamole since yesterday (and while I satisfied that initial craving, I was looking for something more like what Playa Cabana served).

Very nice. Loved the toasty, malty crumbs and the way the baked pastry was filled with rhubarb. It reminded me of McDonald's hand pie (which isn't a bad thing) with just cooked rhubarb tucked within; another noted it was like a filled churro. I suppose so.

"Next time" I'd like one pastry stick all to myself. I'd rather hold on to it like a hand pie than try to daintily split it on the plate with my dining companion. :P
