This guy was at the South Station red line platform today.

Although it's completely absurd, I felt I had to censor the painting in the background that was originally depicting a nude woman. I've heard Flickr takes a very hard line with this stuff, and having a not-particularly-realistic nude painting in the background could get my entire account set to "restricted" where most people would not be able to see it , or even deleted.

I'm not sure if this station had such a strange vibe because of the giant hole in the ceiling, the weird sculpture, or the fact that it was almost totally empty even through multiple cycles of trains arriving and departing.

This guy maybe isn't too thrilled about the prospect of playing (again -- he's a regular at South Station) for a bunch of apathetic commuters while loud trains go by in the background.

a strange sight in Taunton

In downtown Taunton, there's this trailer sitting in an empty lot. It's incorporating part of an MBTA blue line subway car (wait no, it is a replica car, but originally owned by the MBTA) and some kind of little shingled structure. Inside there are bar stools (you can kind of see one) but the whole thing is roped off with "no trespassing" signs. (Are they turning it into a cafe or something?) Although it might appear attached to a building, it's actually a freestanding trailer. The T logo has been turned into the letter I with duct tape, although who knows what 'I' is supposed to mean.

Many (most?) New York subway stations still have their mosaic signs from when the stations were built in the very early 20th century. (Boston has a few too, but not nearly so many as New York.) This one's not in great condition. Just below this sign there was a paper notice on the wall with a picture of a rat and the message "Caution: Rodenticide Application."
