a new Mac desktop 27 inch 2 TB fusion drive. So.......
I bring up Flickr and wa...la talk about change. This
is like driving along Route 191 Arizona as above;
one never knows what to expect around the next
corner.

Sequel

This is the sequel to my previous image as Sandy
encroached our shores. Only carrying one lens, my
18-105mm I was unable to capture the feel of the sea
coming over the wall in the previous image where I
was standing. Salt spray, squall type rain, and wind
played havoc with my gear. I then positioned myself
as close to the end of the jetty to get a better view of
the cascading water along with the cooperation of
available light. I never did pay attention to the reflect-
ing shadows from the railings as I was too concerned
with the potential from water damage.

There is a magical fascination with light...and as Deutschmann leads
me to believe that,"Its not in your camera bag." Here my off camera
flash was used to allow the flower to drift off into darkness rendering
the aesthetic quality of blur, that is to say out-of-focus points of light.
I tried to create an ethereal feeling that only light was capable of
accomplishing in this setting; rather that duplicating a pretty picture
of petite things. Combining black and white with a little color under
macro conditions I found to be exciting and outside accepted boundaries.

America's fascination with William H. Bonney a.k.a.
Billy the kid and Pat Garrett roaming through New
Mexico is alive and well to this day.

Back in time within my archives there is the bygone pueblo
belonging to the Taos American Tribe of the "Pueblo People",
New Mexico, USA. This Native American village was built
around 1000 CE. In the Taos language, the pueblo is re-
ferred to as "the village".

At the time of the Spaniards' explorations the initial contact,
by Hernando de Alvarado described the pueblos as having
adobe houses stacked five to six stories high. Access to the
high rooms was by way of climbing long wooden ladders
through small square holes. Since the pueblo had limited
windows access to outside elevated terraces also used tall
ladders to access potted herbs. The structure was composed
of mud, straw, and plaster. The architecture and building
material was well suited for rigors of life in the Taos valley.

The city of Miami noted for sunshine, frivolity, South Beach,
and its diversity has its share of superstructures. Passing the
Wells Fargo building my reaction to the sun caught my
attention. I departed from the ten stop neutral density filter
to a six stop and let the camera respond to what I was seeing,
light rays. The whites, the blacks, the lines, the contours,
highlights and shadows galvanized into the cameras response
to my reaction.

The absence of color permits other graphic components
and dynamics to rise in significance. It is an interpretation
of feeling rather than displaying what the camera sees.
Black and white blends the matrixes of the gray scale.

This is a continuation of the "miami" series. Biscayne Bay
is an integral part of the Miami folklore. The lagoon
separates Miami Beach barrier island from Miami on
the mainland.
