It's been soooo hot and rainy that I confess to not having my camera out too often. Even the flowers in my yard are not blooming much; I guess they, too, are succumbing to this weather. This shot is from my recent trip to Leu Gardens in Orlando.

Thought about calling this Hot Pink, as that seemed to describe the high tone of this image - and the weather that day!! - but settled on a different title.

Yesterday, I said to myself enough with the housework - time for a photo-stroll!! :-)

It is camellia blossom time here in Central Florida, so I decided to revisit Leu Gardens in Orlando. Even tho we have had a few chilly nites, most of the blooms are intact and as lush and lovely as can be. While the perfect flowers are heavenly, I find a special beauty in the fading stages of their lives. This one had fallen onto a bed of pine needles and I was especially intrigued by the little bits of green still remaining. Such delicate colors and textures...

Week 4 0f 52 Words/52 Weeks - Friends

Found this metal sculpture at Leu Gardens yesterday. This is what it means to be a grandparent and friend!!

This piece, considered Mixed Media, is entitled "Grandpa and Grandson" and was created by the American artist Peter Oftinoski.

Thanks to LeapFrog for the ID. I think this is correct because the leaves are huge, as was the whole plant. His links look just like this.

Playing around some more with that originally oh-so-bland image. It is such fun to watch the image change right before your eyes!!

I don't believe this is a peace lily because the leaves on this plant were huge, but it is a similar blossom. Just don't know.

Added the Overlay filter with somewhat reduced opacity.

Have no idea what these are, other than the blossoms of some large-leafed foliage plant growing in a shady area of Leu Gardens. They remind me of the peace lily blossoms and I wonder if they are in that family.

Seems to me that the monochromatic treatment of this image is a whole lot more interesting as it really brings out the textures. The original image was disappointingly blah.

Reaaally wish I knew what this is ...

This may be one of the most unusual flowers I have ever seen - a triangle cactus blossom.

Found in the Arid Garden display at Leu Gardens in Orlando.

More pink roses from Leu Gardens ...

I love the background - to me it almost looks like wallpaper - but am slightly bothered by the bud being out of focus. Guess it is in a different plane than the main flowers, tried cropping it out, didn't like the result and guess I will live with it.

While wandering around the gardens - and trying to stay in the shade! - we came upon some big old cypress trees. Their trunks are so pretty in their own right, but, way high above us, this lovely, delicate plant was growing on one. It looks like a type of orchid, but I just don't know.
