Hair ice - backlit by the afternoon sun. This phenomenon is caused by fungal activity in rotting wood in combination with high humidity and low temperatures. This is an HDR made of three single RAW exposures, handheld.

I took this shot along the pylon of this wind turbine, which made a nice foreground for the milky way. The exposure was taken at ISO 800, 30 sec exposure time, lens 24mm@f 1.8. In this clear night, I was able to capture a respectable amount of light. The lower right corner contains some scattered light from the nearby village (couldn´t get so far away from civilzation that night :-) )

First pic of my little Berlin city tour on 08. of Sept. 2011. I had to wait until the rain stopped, but the wet surfaces really add to this picture. What´s your opinion?

...we have to wait for the harvest. I took this image in the evening sunlight in our garden. My first idea was an HDR, but I had to hold the cam in one hand and the flashlight in the other (the tripod didn´t fit on the ladder I was standing on) - so I made one underexposed shot to achieve a good exosure in the backlit leaves and a dark background (there is a hedge). I eliminated the rest of the remaining structures of the hedge with the after-exposure tool in PS.

All your comments, faves and constructive critizism are highly appreciated - so point me to your streams!

Just found this in my archives. I took this shot in the year 2006 while traveling with the Zugspitzbahn to the top of Germanys highest mountain. The clouds where painting a very nice pattern on the forest in the lower right part of my view, and I shot this very close to the upper terminus at 2.962m.

Due to the inappropriate weather for outdoor shots, I did a macro study with shallow DoF and some pretty nice bokeh. I used a fixed focus lens with circular aperture for this.

Yesterday, I went out with the intention to get some funny cattle shots. The first herd I saw was grazing in the middle of a field, surrounded by the usual fence. But they totally ignored me and showed me (at least some of them) their backs. So I moved on to another place, and the models there were much more cooperative. After being a little shy when I approached them, the lad on my photo became couriuos and I could shoot a Series of approx. 20 pics. It is a little difficult when you want to achieve this funny wide angle effect (I had to get as close as 30cm with 17mm focal length) without getting your lens explored by the cow´s tongue.Happened once, but I managed to get the protection filter clean again :-)

Macro shot of the tip of a Mahonia leaf. It´s quite unusual that they turn red at this time of year, probably due to the lack of rain we had in this year. The leaf was illuminated from behind with a simple LED pocket flashlight, exposure taken at 100mm focal length with aperture 5.6. The leaf sits on a sheet of paper.

Another shot from my 2011 Cebit visit. This is taken at the pivot of the telekom cube on the fairground. The glass decoration consists of merely blue glass pieces, with some green ones mixed in. When I passed this in the afternoon sun, I had to try some shots - this is the best one of it, I think.

Part of the relay team course of the ctif (world firefighting association) championship. The runner jumps into the 8m tube with enough velocity to slide completely through it. I used 1/800s exposure time to shoot this, so there is no motion blur in this image. But the athlets are really fast.

This is the second image from the last year switzerland tour. It is made from three JPEG shots (forgot to set the camera for RAW exposures...) +- 1EV, camera sat on a wooden fence, but I think the result is worth sharing!

Sunset. HDR made of seven RAW exposures in a range of -4EV...+2EV. I had to fiddle a lot with the HDR merging to achieve the visual look I had when taking those shots. Was a great evening.

This lonely guy is the reminder of the 2010 exhibition "Giganten der Urzeit" with about 60 dinos spreaded around the city. His head is about 6m above the peoples heads. Single RAW shot, 1/20sec exposure time to enhance the cars movement, aperture 16@17mm focal length.
