only in the sun does she find herself able to smile. it is the light that heals the darkness, the pain, the suffering, and on a whim, she reaches out and kisses it. lightly at first, and then engulfing it until she too becomes light.

her violin tunes the trees and helps coax the leafs to fall from their branches. on chilly days, she surrounds herself with tunes that create warmth and helps the blood flow from roots to stem to petals.

This is Meg. She's an incredible musician who asked if I could so some work for her to help promote her music. I happily obliged. She goes to school with me, and I've always wanted work with her. When we were shooting, I asked if she knew any nerdy music and suggested Star Wars. She said no, but to hold on. In just a few seconds she was playing the Star Wars theme having never done so before.

I'll have more The Walking Dead photos up soon! I just have no time to edit. :P

Part 1 of a 3 part series.

We call the forest our home and live among pine beetles and shadowed caves. Gaia nurtured us through adolescence before setting us free to live in the wild. Untamed but natural we are waterfall goddesses. I have always been and am still your older sister. The rejuvenated river binds us together even when dusk threatens to separate you from me. Protecting you from rapids is an unsung responsibility, but you never understood. You climbed to tree tops to view blood orange cocktail sunsets and plunged into the depths of the sinkhole Earth. Now your face blends with the white specks that peek through moss-covered rocks. Your freckles are as soft as the soil beneath our feet. I grasp your arm, clinging to your body warmth, and try to keep you from floating down the braided stream.

Me and my three best friends, Alix, Sarah, and Adam, went to the river yesterday. It was very spur of the moment. When we got there, the road to the river was closed off so we had to park and walk way down to it.

We got there about six. It gets dark around eight. So we had to shoot with very, very, very limited light. We also had to walk/hike/run back up the river and longgg path in the pitch black night. We also saw a huge black snake that was scary as heck.

Anyways, a lot of my photos I took were extremely blurred because I had to shoot with a low shutter speed thanks to low light.

Thanks to my friend Adam for doing hair and dressing them!

Anyways, I am extremely pleased with how it turned out, and the processing is inspired by Karrah. I didn't realize she had inspired it until I had finished. It was subconscious. :)

Also, I love that you're able to see Alix's (right) tattoo. :)

P.S. These dresses are really curtains. :)

I took this the other day in our side yard as people were driving by. It made for a very awkward photography experience, but it was really fun!

As I was shooting this, my younger sister was helping/watching, and then my older sister called. We had to go pick up our nephew from daycare because he was sick and my older sis couldn't leave work. So I had to run to the house and strip off the ivy. I didn't have time to take a shower or anything. We walked into the daycare and I was pretty disgusting. Luckily my nephew was fine, he just had a stomach ache.

This weekend I went to a baseball game with my sister, nephews, and older nephews friend. Some photos are below in the comments! :) I love them. <3

This is Alix. We've been best friends for about ten years, and she's an amazing and beautiful woman inside and out.

We went to the river today with her boyfriend and and our amazing friend Adam. I had to do a shoot. Water is quite difficult to capture, but I really quite like this. It is merely a preview though. I have a ton of photos to edit and upload. :)

I opened my mouth to scream and shout

My sister and I had a shoot today. This is inspired by the amazing Brooke Shaden, but I think that's obvious. This is my first photo I like where I bring in another photo. I edited the flying birds in. They come from this lovely photo.

My sister is always reluctant to shoot, and I feel like it's because she's self-conscious. She has no reason to be though because she is so gorgeous and really a good model for my stuff. I've taken pictures of her before a long time ago back before I had my DSLR. She's a wonderful young woman. :)

Today was mildly bad. Well, not bad, but I was completely inspired by something and then my shoot failed. So, I had to go to reserves from earlier today. The snow is still here! As are icicles.

cradled in her arms lies the remains of a dying tree. its flesh, soft, moist, and dank, has thrived as a feeding ground for the groundlings of the forest with their many legs. as the last bit of life seeps from the crevices lined within, she hears a seedling rooting in the distance and turns to look, glad to see new life springing forth.

This is Sarah Hoey (aka bellydnce1103 on Flickr). She was shooting a wedding in Georgia, and we decided to meet up. She stayed with us for a few days, and we had a fantastic time. This is one of two conceptual pieces I shot of her. She's a great model, and was such a trooper to hold that log that was crawling with bugs. Icky icky icky.

I got a haircut!

Look at in large or in original size. I am proud of the focus in it. It's insane.

Shooting today was slightly interesting. I set out with a fishing pole and a knapsack in my huge backyard, but everything I was shooting looked so stilted a posed. So, I decided to jump in the creek, take my shirt off, smear mud all over me, and make a crown from ferns. It was kind of liberating and fun - I felt five again.

I am probably covered in poison ivy, mosquito bites, and dirt, but all in all, I really like the photo. The lyrics the accompany it highlight the need to get away and just be in a natural state of being.

What is everyone doing for summer? <3

I adore this photo. I was at the tip top of a fairly high treehouse. I had my lovely friend Audrey, who has a Flickr account (she's tagged; check her out!), lie at the bottom and just make it look like she fell. I really love the depth of field here, and the colors and light.

I am so excited about what I can do with my new camera. I'll be purchasing a remote soon.
