The dot of North Carolina's hwy program has wild flowers off of 107 in Cullowhee. it was a windy day - forgot the thingy that goes on the bottom of your camera for the tripod - thus this is as good as I could get!

Brilliant color of red that stands out in any landscape. This bloom is ready to burst open. I have not seen them as a native but available in nurseries.

The description is from North Carolina "Our State " Magazine. The shrub is off of our driveway... and ummm, um does it smell good. You smell it first. It’s a sweet, peppery aroma. Spicy almost.

This distinctive smell signals that an eastern sweet shrub is nearby. Its deep maroon flowers blend in with the dark green leaves of the forest where it grows. But that smell makes it stand out.

There’s a misconception that our native plants don’t produce rich colors or fragrances. But as eastern sweet shrub, Calycanthus floridus, blooms throughout the mountain and Piedmont regions in April and May, it proves that plants from here can have the same qualities as those from somewhere else.

The composition is simple and beautiful for the dogwood tree. Blooms in the spring, leaves during the summer, berries and colorful leaves in the fall.

The camera was a big purchase on our honeymoon 42 years ago. It was my 'big buddy" for taking all of the family photos, including vacations for 25 years. A trip to the beach on a windy day was its retirement.

A retail store was closing and this bunny called my name not to leave him behind. He is a little stiff and doesn't really like to pose for the camera. But I managed to snap this when he was thinking about his shelf life.

was built.

Orange Beach AL. Son-in-law Family property sits on the bayou (pronounced bi-oh) with vintage florida houses on both sides... Look toward the beach and you see two new high-rise condos that overlook the gulf.

Back to our roots - not really. This building is part of the Smokey Mountain National Park "farm". This was taken last fall before the flood washed out 441 in the park.
