Preparing to exhibit at a community global fair to promote the high school exchange program. Bought a new display rack from Staples that I like. Allows me to store both horizontal and vertical brochures.

My exchange student son from Mexico is preparing a presentation on Mexico for the community global fair. You should consider hosting an exchange student someday! We've hosted 13 academic (attend high school) exchange student, and it's changed our life for the better!

My goat jumps up, grabs the lower branch and just starts to munch off my cherry blossom tree blooms. He goes CRAZY for them! As soon as I let out the goats from the backyard, they dart for the cherry blossom tree.

I was delighted that my Once-A-Month scene changed with some pretty horses in foreground. They are never around when I visit this spot; today was the first time to pet the horses.

These are the kind of slides I played on when I was a kid. You don't find them at modern playgrounds anymore. this is also another view of our campground. The river is on the other side of the campers.

another weekend of camping fun! Took 6 exchange students camping with us. They had to sleep outside in a tent in low 30 degrees weather. A few of the boys were from hot weather countries like Mexico, Yemen and Qatar. One student was from Finland so he was comfortable. They all had a great time

Exciting day! We bought this 2 acre river lot! We started looking for an affordable river lot a year ago. Just taking our time and looking here and there. We first visited this lot in July 2012. It was so overgrown that we couldn't really see the land. So when winter arrived, I drove out there after a snowfall. It looked level and flat and pretty in the snow cover! Tried to put in an offer but couldn't because it was no longer on the market. I drove to the courthouse and found the owner's address. Wrote a letter, and eventually the lot changed hands and is now ours!
We are not moving to WV, just a weekend retreat. The boys can go fishing in the small and shallow river (more like a big mountain stream). They stock it a few times a year with trout. What is great is that we don't have to worry about mowing it or paying someone. Some farmer is using it for hay right now.

We are West Virginia land owners now!

Day 109 Free Snakes with the purchase of 2 acres

We bought 2 acres on a small river in West Virginia today! While taking a final walk of the land before we handed over the check, we encountered this snake on our lot. The photo is not great because it was taken on zoom using my cell phone. I wasn't going to get that close to it.
We bought the land for a weekend retreat because it has a nice little river (large rocky stream) on the lot. Earlier this year, we also bought a campground membership along the Shenandoah River. Looks like all our summer weekends will be either campground resort camping or rural West Virginia camping with snakes.

The old cinema was terrible and ready for a facelift. Although I don't go to movies that often, I'm happy to see Winchester is getting another nice movie theater, especially after the second one was torn down.
