Tidal pool reflections on the coast of Maine.

I captured an image of a wave down at this beach while out shooting with Dan Grenier one morning. Alice Yoo from My Modern Met has written a nice article about the image and a small interview with me here.

Walking the coastal road to Singing Sands surrounded by lush green moss and towering pines. One of the most beautiful places on earth is Small Point in Phippsburg, Maine. My camp is a short walk from here and perched on a small knoll overlooking the Atlantic. I am excited to see signs of spring and the coming summer months. It has been a long winter and still a bit chilly but soon the warm breeze and the crashing waves ushering in salty air will be most welcome. Cheers!

Went upta camp last Friday and spent the night. When I got there the camp was a balmy 45 degrees and had her warmed up to 68 in no time. Took a hike down to back beach and then over to Hermit Island for the sunset. Really jonesing for summer now. Met three of my neighbors for a guitar jam later that evening and had a great time indeed. Glad I bailed out on Saturday though the weather as you all know here in Maine got wintery and windy not to mention cold!

Donny, your a brave man for staying up there until today!

I know I have not posted much lately. I decided to put the camera down for a few months and work on music for the winter. Spring is around the L O N G corner and should see some new images soon. All is well and wishing you all well. That is all.

In the movie "Head Above Water" there are scenes where Cameron Diaz and Harvey Keitel are running through the woods. These are the woods they used in that film. Beautiful place out on Small Point. The Hooded Merganser is one of my favorite birds however, I haven't seen any Hoodys yet this year. Here is a shot from last year. Very beautiful bird and we should be seeing them anytime now. I've been keeping my eye on the ponds but no sightings yet.

I did see a couple of Horned Grebes today. :-)

Portland Head Light - Hurricane Sandy, Oct 29, 2012

I went down to PHL yesterday for the spectacular waves from Hurricane Sandy. She didn't disappoint us and out of the couple hundred shots I took there were a few that were not completely washed out by the rain or spray from the surf. It was a tough shoot and dealing with the wind blown water was the hardest part at least for me. Catching the right moment with no people in the shot and the head light corresponding with a wave wasn't easy but I managed to squeeze one off.

To top it all I had the pleasure to also meet a bunch of flickr members as well! Fun day!

Looks like we are in for some BIG waves people! Keep an eye on the weather but Mon - Tue of next week looks real promising for some great action shots at PHL. Hurricane Sandy could unleash some nice surf and make for some great photo ops. Maybe I will see you there.
