An unmistakable bird with its black back and white underparts, and distinctive black head with large pale cheeks and a tall, flattened, brightly-coloured bill. This clown among sea birds is one of the world's favourite birds. They arrive in Britain at the start of the breeding season. During winter, puffins disperse as far south as the Azores. <br /> <br /> I had a great day out yesterday with two good friends Ken(Adobe Man) and David(Bretton98), thanks for the company guys, most in enjoyable. While David went deep sea diving, Ken and I spent the afternoon visiting the Farne Islands. My thanks to Billy Shiels for helping us out with a last minute change of plan on the boat trip.<br /> <a href="http://www.farne-islands.com" rel="nofollow">www.farne-islands.com</a><br /> <br /> I had another senior moment yesterday, while changing flash cards I popped in the wrong one. Its four years of hard work and perseverance. They raised the £140,000 needed to get the project off the ground and another nine months to extend and refurbish the garden room. Proceeds from the cafe will be ploughed back into local group and charitable initiatives at home and abroad. So if you ever find yourself stuck in traffic on the A14 and in need a bite to eat, why not give it a try.<br /> <br /> Whenever I'm out with a camera, Janice knows food is the last thing I think about. So while I was away my wife would ring or text me to make sure I was stopping to have something to eat. So I started taking images of what I was eating. But for once I managed to find a lay-by and grab this image. The light was changing rapidly and so had no time to set-up a tripod and only managed a hand full of images before the sun rays had all but gone. I was only about 7 at the time and never managed to put them back together. My mother wasn't very pleased!<br /> <br /> After years of good service, my Canon 15-85mm EF-s lens was becoming a little warn out and so after watching a video on 'YouTube' on how to do a strip down and repair, I thought looks easy why not give it a go as I had a shade full of tools and years of practise working on toys and cars. What can be so hard?<br /> <br /> So I set about striping down the lens and tightening up the loose screws and finally managed to put it back together. Took me best part of an afternoon. On checking it I found that the Auto Focus wasn't working. Stripped it down again and found that I'd not reconnected the Auto focus level. Another rebuild in the hope that it would now be OK. The sun was setting outside by now and I was hoping to capture one or two images. Sadly the lens had other ideas as sometimes the Auto Focus would only work when it felt like it. After a few more strip and rebuild attempts the Auto Focus gave up completely. On the up side my strip and rebuild times were coming down and I could now do the hole thing in under 15 minutes, I was beginning to feel like an expert. Finally there was nothing for it but to send it to Canon for someone who knows what they are doing to bring it back to life. When the post man asked if it was worth more than 25 pounds, I lied and said it was worth much more than that and paid for special delivery. What Canon will make of it when they take it apart and fine warn screws, broken tabs, sellotape and blue-tack holding it all together I'll never know.
