The damp walls, green moss and the monsoon provide a very nice backdrop that i cannot replicate back home. The amazing surroundings at this resort built entirely built from local materials to support the surrounding communities.

Many monasteries around Tibet have large, fixed, metal wheels set side by side in a row. Passersby can turn the entire row of wheels simply by sliding their hands over each one.

A prayer wheel is a cylindrical "wheel" (Tibetan: འཁོར་; Wylie: 'khor) on a spindle made from metal, wood, stone, leather or coarse cotton. Traditionally, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is written in Sanskrit on the outside of the wheel. Also sometimes depicted are Dakinis, Protectors and very often the 8 auspicious symbols Ashtamangala. According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition based on the lineage texts regarding prayer wheels, spinning such a wheel will have much the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the prayers.

This was shot at the market place in Durbar Square, Kathmandu. The lamps were being lit for a deity (I don't know the name) but with the evening sky just around thhe golden hour blue color, i could get the street along with the lamps. An hour later and the street was completely black.

I am not an ornithologist, so i do not prefer to take extreme closeups of birds nor do I have the means (read extreme long lens). however i love to shoot with a context. what's a woodpecker got to do without some wood? ;)
