Double deer

The first and only time I've seen wild red deer on this part of Arnish Moor, near to the road. Taken from a moving car so not as sharp as it could be.

This is a favourite way to use old bathtubs - turn them into sheep troughs, with fitted taps!

The snowy Harris mountains can just be seen on the horizon.

I trekked across a peat bog (luckily it wasn't too wet) to reach this point overlooking Leurbost (Gaelic: Liurbost). The morning sun finally struggled through the snow clouds and as you can see, more clouds were blowing in from the west.

I trekked across a peat bog (luckily it wasn't too wet) to reach this point overlooking Leurbost (Gaelic: Liurbost). The morning sun was struggling to show through the snow clouds and as you can see, more clouds were blowing in from the west.

In the distance, covered in a light dusting of snow, are the Harris mountains.

The long, winding road...

...to Stornoway. It's a fun road to drive along, that is until a sheep decides the grass is greener on the other side or a car comes the other way, and the anchor has to be dropped!

The section shown above includes a "cattle grid" to stop animals roaming too far up the road. When the metal grid is wet one can feel the car tires sliding slightly before gaining grip again on the tarmac.

There are frequent "passing places" along this road and it's customary to give passing drivers a wave to say thanks (for not running me off the road!).
