I'd like to dedicate this photo to Hector Macaulay whose funeral had just finished near to where this was taken. He died on 4th February 2007, aged 95. The weather gave him a fine send off.

Captured on the last day of September, high pressure made for a summery scene. I'd never seen this land-locked loch so calm...probably never will again. The Horse Flies (Cleggs) were vicious at this spot.

A shipwreck can be seen on the far left, and beyond it on the horizon is Uist.

See it larger. You can't see the original as I haven't sorted out a Pro account.

Panoramics on Flickr seem to be often undervalued. Obviously their awkward shape doesn't fit well in the interface and dial-up users don't have the patience to wait for the larger size to download. But it's a pity the amount of time they take to make isn't made more worthwhile by the number of views. *whinge over*

BBC Coast goes to the Outer Hebrides

The BBC television programme, Coast, recently covered my area of the UK coast, the Outer Hebrides.

To read a synopsis of what was covered in the programme click here.

The entire 1 hour repeat programme is no longer on the BBC website, but instead there are links to parts of the programme (it's telling that the clip about the proposed wind farm is absent, on the day that a revised plan for the wind farm has been released). It's a shame the clip covering the amazing scenery of St. Kilda isn't online also.

Here are the available clips to view - I recommend holding down Shift and clicking a link to open it in a new window (IE users):
