1950's Smith Corona Sterling

This is my latest acquisition, an early 50's Smith Corona Sterling portable typewriter. This machine is in beautiful shape, but the case lock has seen better days. If anyone has advice on how to fix or where to find a replacement lock, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Just another pulp excercise. This was done from a photograph of the lovely Diana Dors. I used the Gimp and my Wacom pad to paint the image from scratch. I used G'Mic's "Black & White" setting to add a little grain and tweaked the levels a touch to fine tune the contrast.

Just a quick speedpainting I did of a femme fatale. She's from the cover of an old Mike Shayne novel, "Murder is My Business"

I made a few changes just to give her my personal touch. And I tweaked the colour a bit using the g'mic plugin for theGimp.

This is a quick speedpaint I did of the hero from the new men's adventure series, The Red Menace, by James Mullaney. If you haven't read them yet, I highly recommend you check the series out, it's excellent retro fun and full of great wit.

Just trying my hand at painting a vintage pulp book cover. This was several hours of work in the Gimp spread over several days. I used the "Feel the Heat" setting on the "Modern CinemaFX" filter in G'MIC to punch the colour up a hair.

This is my blatant attempt to copy elements of a Jonny Duddle image with some slight modifications. The original work, by Mr. Duddle can be seen starting on page 48 of ImagineFX's Fantasy Creatures book. This took several hours in the Gimp using a wacom "fun" tablet
