KnowThankYou posted a photo:

The famous red color of Sedona, Arizona's rocks was caused by iron oxide-laden water seeping through Sedona's existing sandstone. This process took millions of years, and left behind both beautiful rock formations and thin, mineral-rich topsoil ideal for viticulture. Native plants also enjoy these conditions, laughing off the heat, cold, wind, and lack of water. Because of their naturally slow growth rates, it's hard to know exactly how old these plants may actually be.
