It was a day when my housemate requested my help with one of her jobs and I did follow her having nothing much to do during that day. And so this was when we were getting ready to get out of the car to the job place. It's not every day then when one sees green socks that are pretty bright that one would easily take note of.

While walking from the photolab to my car, I found this perculiar-coloured car on a tow thing, and it was colourful enough for me to really want to take a picture of it. So there. Turned out better than I expected =)

One reason why I hate my camera within reach. Hayden and I were walking towards Memorial Glade, I think, and it just so happens that this bloke came running the other way towards Dwinelle stark naked, apart from that little bit of cloth with him. I noticed him running towards us and just got my camera out, wait for the perfect moment after adjusting the focus lever, then snap! I remember though that by the time he reached just outside of Dwinelle, the crowd started cheering and clapping =D

Joey had never touched one of these TLR:s before, so I let him play with my Lubitel. He seemed to be enjoying playing with the focus ring, so I just snapped a shot of him anyway. I don't think he noticed though =D But anyway. This was during the picnic day with the choir peoples.

I suppose it was weird seeing that someone actually was using one of those payphones that they have on campus, since I've never seen anyone use them before. They're just pay phones with graffiti on them and that's it. One reason why I took a picture. Everyone has a mobile… Well, I suppose 99% of the population.

The choices one has to make is sometimes the most difficult. But to do something one isn't used to or has never done, could be the most exciting or something one won't regret. Although it might also be the worst, but one gets to learn from it, no?

From the test shots with Rolleiflex 3,5F. I really like the detail on the "pole", the "scratch marks"…

On the contrary. I am aware it's a digital camera, so it's more of a modern day thing, but it sort of reminds me of the old days when I carried a DSLR around. I'm more often carrying a film camera around. Be it a Lomo LC-A (I have three of these =P) or a Rolleiflex or some other. I suppose I feel that film has a bit more play to it, with so many different kinds of film to play with, different brands, slide and negative, cross-processing and normal processing, there's just more artsiness in it. I'd use digital for let's say, a photoshoot, which I've only done once with Hayden. But I'll gladly do a photo shoot for anyone who'd like one =) for free! It's more of an experiment and test of composition for me. Digital can feel a bit too perfect, and art is never perfect. Or at least I don't want it to be, since it's something I connect to on a more personal plane. So, yes, I use digital and film, personally, I use film for everyday stuff, digital for pictures that I want or others want to be perfect? Well, if you want a photoshoot on film, you could just pay for the film and development for me, and I'll gladly oblige.

But here anyway, everyone's carrying around a digital camera these days. Wouldn't it be more fun to load a camera with film or a battery? =D

Sort of fit my mood today. Everything is moving too quickly, everyone wants to move too quickly. We're missing all the finest details that float around in the spaces around us begging to be noticed and appreciated. In this area, I'm not surprised if more people die on the road than anywhere else. Over the past year, one of the professors in the Scandinavian department got hit by a car while cycling home. But he's fine now, or at least I hear he's teaching again. I've actually considered owning a bike to cycle to school, but I suppose driving would suffice (I get my exercise else where, you see). Anyway, people here don't really look when they're driving, but it's not just the drivers though, it's the pedestrians too! I mean, some drivers don't look where they're driving, many don't even signal, which is really bizarre. I find myself getting frustrated a lot driving in the area. Berkeley is the worst place I've ever driven in, pedestrians could be blind and it wouldn't change anything. People would cross the roads without even looking…even when they're not supposed to be crossing. If it were London, half the population of Berkeley would have died in a car accident.

About the picture: I've been driving by it for the past year and have always wanted to stop by to take a picture, but since I'd only drive by it while rushing to the gym, it was never done, until one fine day I decided to stop by the area after school while the sun was still up, and it turned out better than I expected =) I like how it looks solemn, not very colourful, but enough colours to portray what it has to.

An advice for people: slow down, take a look around. You might notice something new that has always been there. And perhaps, something new to appreciate.

I suppose the most fun part about walking around Berkeley is the random encounters with interesting looking people. This bloke just happened to be one of them. My only regret with this shot is not shooting with colour film. I mean, he had quite a bit of colours on! But what's captured is captured, let's move on to the next.

This is the final turn I take before I reach my gym. Funny thing is I'd always get annoyed at this light/junction/intersection (whatever one calls it) because it takes forever to turn green, besides the "no turn on red" that is. Also, it was a few times before I took the picture that I got intrigued by the graffiti on the mailbox and the (probable) electric box right by it. I didn't like the picture before, but after another look at it, it sort of drew my attention and thus being the picture of the day.

Att åka är alltid spännande. Asså man får se nya platser och allt som händer i stan. jag tyckte att detta kort var mycket intressant. En muslimsk tjej glor ut genom fönstret. En känsla av escapism.

Travelling on the bus always brings one new sights. I thought this one was interesting, a muslim girl with a hijab looking out the window. And it has that escapist feeling.

He's the guy who is always around the south side of campus. He is always either with a bike as such, or he has his little "fortress" in the middle of the street talking to passer-bys. He seems to be a friendly guy. He never fails to amuse me =)
