Study Room #11 was built in our old lobby from when the entrance to Foster was from the Bank of America building. Since the ceiling was over 20 foot tall, voices echoed in it pretty badly. Over Spring Break acoustic soundproofing was added to eliminate the echo. The room also got a new larger light fixture, which quite a few students had requested. Finishing off the room today it got a nice new large round wood table and a few more chairs. We are nicknaming this room "The Boardroom" because it's by far our nicest looking study room and it seems great for meetings.

The glassed in Mezzanine "Fishbowl" area got all new furniture this week and became a nice study lounge.

When the task chairs arrive in a few weeks we expect this to be a busy "talk zone" area with movable group tables, movable white boards and the three group computer stations.

Our new green soft individual seating! These have swinging small desk tops for your laptop or books. They are super comfy and add a well needed pop of color to the library.

Foster's new compact shelving! It fits 30% more than conventional shelving, so the books now take up a lot less space, which gave us room for new furniture. We will gain almost 100 new seats when all the furniture arrives. It's a mix of soft seating, sofas, task chairs and individual study carrels.

While we are still waiting for their chairs, the Foster Library has 3 new group stations with 46" LED screens. Each station will sit up to 5 students and they are at a first come first served basis. They have power and VGA cables for your laptop and we have MAC adapters at the front Information Desk.

Foster's new compact shelving! It fits 30% more than conventional shelving, so the books now take up a lot less space, which gave us room for new furniture. Over Spring break the 50,000 volumes that had been stored offsite for the renovation project were moved back into the library and are again available for browsing!

You may remember filling out a user survey last year about the library. One of the top requests was for more soft furniture, we addressed through this renovation project, adding 5 blue sofas, 18 soft green chairs, and 27 high back oranges chairs (which should arrive next week). Our existing soft chairs and benches will also be reupholstered to match the modern color and look of the new furniture.

This area of Phase two will have 3 wall mounted LCD screens with movable furniture for smaller groups that want to work together around a computer on a project. There will be movable white boards, desks, and a variety of soft and hard seating.

The first look inside the Phase 2 new part of the Foster Business Library! Here Gordon Aamot, Head of the Library, surveys one of the new seating areas. When the renovation is complete, the library will gain over 75 more individual study seats. This area will be a quiet zone, with mostly individual carrel seating.

This will be the new 1st floor entrance to Paccar Hall on the level of the library entrance and the Shansby Auditorium. It, along with the two skybridges above it, will make travel between Paccar Hall and Phase 2 really convenient, as well as provide easier access to library, auditorium, computer lab, and other classrooms and offices on Paccar's 1st floor.

This larger room in Phase two will contain compact shelving off to the right and hold approximately 60,000 volumes, a slimmed down book collection. It will also have a variety of movable furniture and seating and be a designated louder zone where people can talk and collaborate on projects and class assignments.
