Snake

Joshua Christenson posted a photo:

An artistic creation of a snake, made entirely out of your standard LEGO bricks. Obviously there is no snake that matches this blue and yellow-striped pattern (or at least that I know of), but I guess that's where the word "artistic" comes into play.

I tried to make this sculpture appear as if the snake is coming from the ground, and a key part of the creation is that it is able to balance it's own weight, without any help from supports.

Thanks for viewing! :-)

A 2.5 x 2.5 ft mosaic of the Starbucks Lady. It isn't the entire logo, though, but only the inner-circle part. I wanted it to have a more artsy feel to it. For the past month or so all I have almost entirely built mosaics. Mainly because I enjoy building them, and also want to improve. I designed this mosaic on brick paper.

Came up with the idea to build this after visiting Tully's with my church group, and seeing the logo there. What really drew me to it was the dark green and brown, which I knew matched well with the existing LEGO colors. This build took about 10 hours to design on brick paper and build.

A friend of mine randomly asked me to do a mosaic of a kendama for him. The mosaic is on the smaller-side, and made of basic bricks. I tried to add a bit more shadows and highlighting, so, at the very least, it wouldn't look like something out of my sister's coloring book. A kendama isn't really a prime subject for LEGO building, but hey, at least it looks like something! ;-)

Uncle Peteza Mosaic

Here is a mosaic I made for the owner of Uncle Peteza's Pizzeria, a local restaurant in Bothell, Washington. Pete Anthony, also known as “Uncle Peteza,” is well-known in the Bothell area, and helps to develop a better community. The mosaic was built based on his logo, which is a caricature of him. The mosaic will put on display in his dine-in restaurant.

I love to make things for people, and then to see their face light up when they say, “Hey, that's made of LEGO!”

Joshua Christenson posted a photo:

The character from the famous board game Monopoly, with his hat and cane. He took 8 hours to design on brick paper, and then about 25-30 hours to build. In this build I wanted him to look a little more human-like, rather than cartoon-ish. I was only able to find one image to work off of, which shows him in this pose. It was a lot fun to build!
