I forgot I took a few shots while we were up on the roof of a friend's house having drinks and snacks a couple weeks back! It was a hot and hazy night - perfect for roof drinking.

The minaret is actually the top of the KAM synagogue in Hyde Park (AKA the synagogue across the street from President Obama's house).

We went to see Sleepwalk With Me the other day. It was a special screening that was introduced by Ira Glass, and he also did a Q&A after. It was the strangest thing hearing his voice, except it was coming from a PERSON - not the radio.

The movie was wonderful - totally hilarious/tragic, and if it's available near you definitely go see it.

We've been hearing about Pleasant House Bakery from our friends for so long and finally got to go and OH MY GOD. These pies are really, really good. And since it's right next to Maria's Packaged Goods it's pretty much the perfect double header: drinks and pies. What more does a person need, really.

This is the front window of Maria's Packaged Goods, where we had some lovely cocktails and some surly-ass bartending the other night. I'll go back for the drinks, but so help me God if I have to shout my order at a bartender's back as he's walking away from me again I will lose my shit.
