Other than the title I left out any description. While writing and sharing my emotions is very therapeutic for me, it’s selfish to think my message could in any way be helpful to her family as they’re simply trying to get through the day. So here goes. You don’t know me and you don’t know her, but this image really makes me think of her, and I spent a good portion of my day yesterday polishing it up.<br /> <br /> Liz was the happiest, most outgoing person I’ve ever met in my life. We were great friends growing up, and she took a huge chance moving to Colorado for school when I was one of the only people she knew. I’d been there for a couple years and within a matter of weeks she probably had ten times the amount of friends—she wasn’t afraid to meet new people or to speak her mind, even in a strange, new place. <br /> <br /> She was a music fanatic and loved nature, so naturally a move out West made sense. When I go to gorgeous spots like Big Sur I’m gutted I never got to show her all the beauty California has to offer. I have a couple friends from back in Illinois who moved to Central Coast California after only visiting for a day. It’s just that special here. I like to think Liz would have followed suit. <br /> <br /> She was a wonderful artist and was blossoming into one hell of a photographer. I always like to think she would have given me so much shit when I was into overcooking HDRs…<br /> We never shot together, though, as it was after her passing that I picked up the hobby and could actually afford a camera. She would have taught me a lot. So much of my passion for photography is derived from her own and I’m never at a loss for inspiration when I know she’s still right there with me. I wear a white dove tattoo on my wrist, very similar to the one she had. I never understood white ink on her fair-skinned wrist, and after giving her a hard time, in her adorable voice, she told me, “Hey, it’s just for me!” I totally get that now. If I’m struggling with anything I hold that little dove and it gives me strength.<br /> <br /> I miss you like crazy, Liz, and I can’t thank you enough for everything, including giving me the motivation to follow my passion in photography.
