Aurora Over Mt. Hood, Oregon

Another shot at Trillium Lake of the Aurora over Mt. Hood from back in the fall. It's fun remembering just how excited I got when I was calling it a night and picking up my camera and tripod out of the lake, only to look at the last photo that was taken and see a pink glow over the mountain and freak out and hurry to put my camera back where it was. Unfortunately, the timelapse of this was mostly ruined, since I had stopped the camera and moved it, thinking nothing was happening. But oh well, I still managed to get a few good stills from the very brief and very faint showing of Aurora.

During my recent trip to Oregon for 4 days, I was lucky enough to catch a small showing of the Aurora dancing behind Mt. Hood at Trillium Lake. This was definitely a highlight of the trip.

I became fascinated and obsessed with Inukshuks while in Canada. I know I used them in a lot of shots, but I'm ok with that. This is a frame from a nice little sequence that will be a part of a timelapse I'm working on from my trip!

Aurora over Kootenay Lake

This night will be etched in my memory forever.
The color slowly crept closer from the horizon and then put on a show that had all of my friends and myself in a daze. We just sat and watched the pillars of light shifting sizes and colors as they moved through the sky. It got so intense at some points that the sky was just flashing with green. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before.

The idea of adding the silhouette frame to the panorama came to me a while ago and I finally had time to put it together tonight. Pardon the poor stitching and blending (hopefully the flaws aren't too noticeable). I'm choosing sleep over worrying about it any more.

I hope you enjoy! If you view it on black, you won't be disappointed!

Same image I uploaded previously, but I bumped up the exposure a little to make the colors pop a little more. Though, this is still very close to straight out of the camera, it was just that vibrant.

This is me, standing in my field just admiring the Aurora as it's the first time I've ever seen anything like this. I saw some red in the sky back when it happened in 2004, but that was so long ago and I only cared about skateboarding back then haha.

A panorama I put together from last night spanning nearly 180 degrees. I was like a kid in a candy shop trying to get as many photos as I possibly could of the Aurora.

A shot from the 2nd night in a row of seeing the Aurora, while in Canada. Unfortunately, there was a lot of cloud cover this night, which really hindered the amazing show that was going on behind the clouds.

You should probably view this on black :)

I know my stream has been bombarded with Aurora shots lately, but I just have to add one more, which is probably my favorite. It's one that I overlooked since it was used for a panorama, but it's very eye-catching on it's own.
