ANTI-CREPUSCULAR RAYS are a relatively rare (for me) phenomenon. I have only seen them once and was lucky enough to be holding a camera. The sun was behind me.

Dear friends! I am moving so I will be away for a few weeks.

The white lights on the left are from the Nordlys ship still being stabilised after the fire.

This is a sight I will not see again but I have a rich collection of pictures from Ålesund to keep uploading once in a while.

Back to the shipyard

The stricken coastal steamer Nordlys being towed to the shipyard for repairs.
The one bright light in this tragic event which cost two of the crew their lives was that they were able to save this lovely vessel.

For 36 hours following the fire on board Nordlys the situation was critical as the capsizing danger angle of 20° was exceeded. The situation was saved by a specialist team of four men from the Netherlands who risked their lives on board to install extra pumps. Once these were in action the hull could be sealed much better and today the ship only has a 5° list and can be saved.
