This past October, for my first try at shooting the Boo To You Halloween parade we picked what turned out to be a pretty poor location. Flash photos were just about all that came out during the entire parade, but I did like this one. I like that Pooh is looking right at the camera. He picked me out. The only other shots I have where a character picked me out were all poorly focused.

Next time, standing where the characters will be in the shade with lights behind them will NOT be my choice.

On our second day at Walt Disney World during our Food and Wine trip, we got to experience a Rope Drop at the Magic Kingdom for the first time. Knowing what a hot ticket it would be, I beelined it to Peter Pan and got us Fast Passes and then got in line to see the ride. I had only had my 50mm f/1.4 lens in the parks for one day and I wanted to try it out in some really low light situations.

I think I was lucky to come away with this shot, which was the only one of the bunch that didn't get thrown away.

The experience alone was enough to make me want to practice and learn more.

Please do your eyes a favor and view this one on black.

During our trip to Walt Disney World in October we were lucky enough to get to join in on the early preview of the New Fantasyland. This light is out in front of Belle's Cottage, in the queue for Enchanted Tales with Belle.

After the Lasseter Family Winery wine tasting seminar with John and Nancy Lasseter, Beth and I bought a bottle of their wine and had it signed. We spoke to John about Pixar's upcoming film "Planes" and Beth took my picture with him.

Both John and Nancy are truly lovely people and we appreciate their taking time out of their busy schedules to personally attend the Epcot Food and Wine Festival putting on these Wine tasting Seminars. I learned quite a bit about wine from them and because of this seminar plan to learn more. Beth and I plan to attend another semiar if we ever get the chance.

John Lasseter is an American animator, film director and the chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. He is also currently the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering. (from Wikipedia)

Hit By Pitch

Once again this picture is from our trip to Sunny Florida this past March. We were lucky enough to get tickets to a Red Sox Spring Training game from my parents, who also attended.

At one point in the game, I'm not even sure what inning, this Miami Marlins player was hit by a pitch. I was clicking away in Sport mode on my T3i and caught him jumping away as the ball ricocheted away from where it hit him. You can see the pain in his face and it looks like the Catcher is already moving to rip off his mask to go looking for the ball.

Taken from the pier in Naples Florida, on the evening of March 10, 2012, the night I got engaged. We were lucky enough to have this beautiful sunset as our backdrop. The Sailboat sailed by partway through and it was just gravy for the pictures.

While at Canaan Fair Speedway watching my nephew race, we also got a chance to watch family friend Kayla drive in her own race.

From the stands, I decided to try and capture the motion of her car with some panning. Seeing my results, I realize that I had chosen the wrong settings, as the blur is not exactly what I wanted. I still call it a success, as I I know what I need to change to get the results I wanted, and I can still see the motion blur.

Last weekend I had a chance to head up to Canaan NH and watch my 11 year old nephew race at Canaan Fair Speedway. We arrived after morning Driving School, and they were getting ready for the first Practice.

Racing against kids 14-16 years old, Jack is the youngest by far. After just three Saturdays in the car, he's doing a great job and proving that he has what it takes. I think he'll be winning races by the end of the year.

Jack's a seasoned racer with 6 years of Go-Karting experience under his belt, and multiple Championship trophies.

Back in March I spent a week in Naples Florida with my Girlfriend visiting my parents. We spent some time on the pier at sunset. It was a good thing I brought my camera on this night. The colors were amazing, and there were even Dolphins swimming around the pier.

While in the Pro Shop at Jet Blue Park at Fenway South I liked the look of this hat sitting on the rack. I tried a few different shots of it, but I liked this one with the woman in the background barely visible.

Wednesday Night, Beth and I flew home from our week-long vacation in Naples, FL with Mom and Dad. Our flight schedule called for a plane change in Orlando after a 32 minute flight from Ft. Myers.While there, I saw the most depressing sign.

In the past, arriving by plane to the Orlando International Airport has meant one thing and one thing only; a trip to Walt Disney World. This evening, our stop in Orlando was only to be 40 minutes. Both of us joked that we could just go hop on a bus and catch a flight home after a week in Walt Disney World, but that was not to be. We'll be there in October, and then I am sure this sign will have a completely different effect on me.

Lake Sunset

We spent last weekend at my Parents' lake house, and this is what the view was from the porch on Sunday night.

This is a 7 exposure HDR using photomatix. I still need lots of practice.

When I couldn't find Tia, our 2 year old, I decided she had to be under a bed. That is, until I went to the kitchen to grab a drink and saw her out of the corner of my eye.

The heat had just kicked on, and there's a heat vent about three feet behind her. I think she was cold.

I took about 20 shots of her, this was one of the better ones. Some simple color correction and cropping done in Photoshop Elements with this one.

This Christmas Beth and I bought each of our dads a new ornament to put on the tree. I found this one on Beth's parents' tree after it was put up and had to take a photo of it.

If you're not sure what this is, I suggest watching the movie "A Christmas Story" and all will be revealed.

Beth was so excited to give my my Christmas gift that she let me open it tonight. In her defense, it's so I can use it tomorrow at her Mom's party.

Santa Goofy

Happy Christmas Everyone! This Santa Goofy was found in one of the shops outside the Voyage of the Little Mermaid in DHS last December. I took about 13 photos of him, as Goofy is my favorite character! I hope you're all ready for the holidays! I just got my last shipment of gifts today, and a couple were from Santa Goofy himself!

Our Tree

It's two weeks before Christmas, and you can see our tree is already stocked with presets for all of the people we love. I believe the top of the tree is about 12 feet above the floor, which just makes me glad that we had a corner to put it in, because half of ir has no ornaments on it at all!

Next year, we get a smaller tree.

This is a 6 image HDR I took the other day, shot from my tripod. I should have closed the window shades, as I can see where the light shining in is blowing out some ornaments, but it's not too bad for a beginner.

The Very First One

This was the very first ornament that Beth and I put up on our tree this year. This is our very first Christmas living together. This was our very first ornament which we bought last December in Disney World, almost 365 days ago!
