The background is a shot I took of a waterfall in Oregon in June. The model was shot in studio. The composite was created in Photoshop.

I started in my artistic endeavor on Flickr inspired by an artist called Miss Aniela who, at the time, specialized in what we called multiplicity scenes, where a person is placed into a scene more than once. For her, it was a way of filling up space. For me, it was a way to express different aspects of my personality, or put another way, to give expression to multiple personalities... lol. So for me, this scene is of the battle that we all face at times within ourselves. As the cartoon character Pogo said, "We have met the enemy... and he is us."

Girl in the Window is a theme I developed a few years ago that explores exhibitionist/voyeuristic themes.

I edited this on Ambien, which causes me to hallucinate.

I'm enjoying my third trip to visit my friends Terry and Earl a.k.a bearsgonebad. I can say this about Terry. I have honestly never known anyone that cares more or gets more pleasure out of her surroundings. Her world stops spinning when a hummingbird flits in for a sip of sugar water or a squirrel stops by for a chat through her picture window. She views life as a great treasure, and takes no friend for granted. If I were a plant, I'd want to live in her garden, because she loves the world around her, and turns it into a paradise. I have been blessed to have been a part of Terry and Earl's life.

The model called this one "Shadows and Sin," so I just went with it. I'm afraid I would have named it something artsy like "Female Silhouette on Multicolored Background," but her title is much better marketing. :)

Let me just say that I'm a fan of Brooke Shaden. I got to attend a workshop put on my her and my friend Miss Aniela quite some time back. I'm still amazed when I think of how seeming effortlessly these two young ladies turn photos into works of art, day after day. I bought a print of the piece that Brooke made during class. And it may nor be coincidental that my inspiration for this scene comes on the very same day that I had that print framed and put on my wall. If so, I should have done it sooner. :)

This shot was taken at a group shoot with the Oklahoma Glamour Photography Club. This club is facilitated online by Meetup.com. The reason I bring this up is that shooting with a group of other photographers is not only a great way to share the cost of a photoshoot, but it's also a great way to learn from others. I have a shoot with Bobbi Jo on Sunday. I was looking back through our previous shoot, and discovered this little gem of a shot. I like the scene, but what drew me into the shot was the joy emanating from her face as she is climbing the ladder. Sort of symbolic of an overcoming life. Who would you rather be with on a journey... one who smiles at life's adversities, or one who complains at every step along the way about how hard it is, or that life is unfair. People who smile in the face of life's obstacles are people I want to be around. Joy is contagious.
