Yet education has been slow to learn from the work of entrepreneurs in other sectors. Kristin Groos Richmond, co-founder of Revolution Foods, delivered a powerful talk on the work of entrepreneurs focused on the social good.

Addressing an area where the education reform movement has paid too little attention was a poignant conversation around innovating to serve students with special needs, including English language learners. Featured entrepreneurs included Daniel Yoo from Goalbook, which helps connect educators connected to a single special needs student; Teddy Rice from Ellevation, which is developing tools for ELL teachers; and Jack Lynch from Presence Learning, which uses technology to connect speech therapists to students around the country. This group discussed the achievement gaps faced by special needs students and how important innovations can better serve them.

Mitch Chester (Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education), and Jean Desravines (New Leaders) discussed what we've learned? This interactive exhibit allowed participants to explore and play with current innovations in education technology. It included tools and content for some of the most challenging problems: tools for special education students, examples of blended learning classrooms in action, data dashboards, and college readiness supports, along with promising learning games.
