There is a short length of wooden fence just out of shot to the right, but it's a brave person who summons the courage to lean on it. There isn't much point putting any more fencing along the cliff edge because it will only end up falling into the sea in the next rock slide. No sense wasting money, eh?

I thought I was the only person daft enough to be messing about on the beach in this weather, until this guy appeared, and headed off into the fog. It's always a bit of a risk walking on this part of the beach because of the potential for rock falls, one of which you can see on the right.

I found this downhill part so much harder on the old legs. It looks quite a gentle slope from this angle but believe me, it is not! For some reason the force of gravity was not only much more powerful here than anywhere else, but it was also cunning and devious, constantly nagging my legs to just relax into a run down the hill and see what speed I could get up to before I disintegrated into a heap in the middle of someone's sand castle.

It was only the dog's insistence that we check out every single rabbit hole that prevented me from reaching a new land speed record.

This shows just how typically the weather can vary right along the coastline.

Apparently, for a person of average height standing at the shore's edge, the distance to the horizon that they can see is approximately 3 miles (5km). In this view the headland on the far right of the horizon is actually 21 miles (34km) away in a straight line. Just shows how much the earth curves in that you can see so much farther from a relatively small elevation.

That's a brave farmer, not to mention the person walking underneath. I took a more direct route straight up to the right, which avoided the perilous tractor but boy, did my calves burn after that climb!!

It's pronounced "eeep" in a very high voice, like a squeaky gate. Just to the left is the sea. That's why I like it here.
