Finally after a coupkle of months we got Goldfinches on our new feeder. They have skirted around the perimeter and even eaten dandilions on the lawn, but at last on the feeder :)

The fly was already dead. It is the first time I have observed a spider taking prey that was already dead in a natural context. The fly had drowned its self, and the spider came up the water outlet to the sink.

I had to take another shot of this. The efficiency of predation is awsome. They patrol the lawn and then you see the characteristic cock of the head as they point one ear at the ground, then if confirmed they strike and another large earthworm bites the dust. This lady has two large earthworms, which she cut up and ate a couple of small pieces prior to flying off. Definately one for the deadly 60....

Starlings, blackbirds etc are now all obviously feeding chicks and or incubating partners.
