Gills are free and and distant, same color or perhaps just a shade paler than the cap. No discernable smell. Slightly grainy to the touch. No ring on stipe present.
Growing on well composted moss.

Chatham Island forget-me-not. Extremely ornamental plant from NZ. Can grow as big as 60cm tall (I wish), hardy in all but the severest winters, needs a good dry mulch and a cover to keep off Mr Frost. If the worst comes to the worst it is an easy and quick plant from seed. Moist and part shady conditions and voila. Perfection and something a little different to the forget-me-nots that we are used to here in Blighty.

Pisaura mirabilis. A common hunting spider according to Collin's. On the 'hoof' :^) May to July.
*This is our only native species of spider that presents the female with a courtship gift.

either P. brumalis - winter polypore - or P. ciliatus - Fringed Polypore - Both species have similar habits, found on similar substrates, have same colored spore prints but their seasons are slightly different. Seasonally this should be P. cilliatus ?

British native fern, and a very garden worthy fern as well. Not common in the wild here as our land is too acid but I know it from a few coastal sites and the odd plant does crop up in Glentrool.
