I quite like this image. I was still playing with my long exposure app trying to see what I could do with blurring. I love the impressionistic feel of this simple landscape. You can still tell what it is, but there is room for your imagination to let you see what it wants to see.

For the daily challenge......"Lead In Lines".

Looks better on black.

This was really fun to make.....lol! It was so cold outside today that the idea of shooting outdoors just did not appeal to me one bit. I like how the branches of the snowflake lead you into and around the image so I think it fits the theme.

I lit a porcelain candle holder which has snowflakes embossed into it so that they glow lighter than the body. I attached the macro lens to my iPhone and focused on one snowflake. I used the SlowShutter App and moved the camera slowly as the image was being taken to create this soft double exposure image. The original image was quite orange from the candle light but I like this greyish tone better.

For the daily challenge......"Connections".

I had a very busy day at work and didn't have much time to shoot so I got out the macro lens for the iphone again to see what I could see. This is a shot of my memorial poppy pin which we wear in Canada for Rememberence day.

It is a red poppy form with a black center. The two pieces are connected by a pin. If you look really closely you can see a blurry reflection of me in the tiny pin head.

For the daily challenge......"Film Noir".

To me film noir was about light and shadows. This might be a bit of a stretch but I wanted to try to use a subject matter that was the opposite of what you might expect for a film noir theme. But I think the bright light and the deep shadows give a bit of that quality. The look on the face of the angel ornament also has a bit of a 40's feel which I thought was rather interesting.

I used a double exposure app to make this image. I took a shot of blurred Christmas tree lights and then a shot of the angel ornament with really bright side light and then melded the two together. I desaturated the image to black and white, but there is still a tiny bit of red in the lips.

For the daily challenge......"Come On In".

This was taken at my Starbucks that I go to every morning through the week before going to work. It's just a small one in the mall that is attached to my office tower but it is really busy and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. This was taken at a realatively slow period in the day, usually there is a line out the door.....lol!

For the daily challenge....."Neat"

This is the time of year that the leaves are a dead jumble on the ground, fading away to fine skeletons.

Their shapes are still so lovely and I thought they would make a nice composition neatly lined up on my hardwood floor for contrast. I desaturated the majority of the colors to emphasize the idea of their demise into faded beauty.

Looks good on black.

One tiny little water drop off the point of an orchid petal. I was surprised how clear I was able to get it. Obviously not as pinsharp as with a true macro, but for a little attachment lens for the iPhone, I think it did amazingly well.

For the daily challenge......"Public Buildings"

As soon as I read this challenge this morning I knew what I wanted to try to capture. This is a shot of the Halifax Regional Library and the statue of Winston Churchill which is in the little park area in front. I wanted to try to capture the statue and the building because in our city, one doesn't go without the other.

I like how this turned out...he seems to be moving, pigeon on his head and all.

It's a pretty hectic day so I don't have much time to shoot. This is a shot down my paperclip holder....lol! I used my fisheye lens for my iPhone to exagerate the roundness and the angle that the clips are radiating out of the "hole". I used a stark black and white treatment and then grunged it up a bit.
