Had a rare sighting today of the outback pole dancer!!

My Wife is raising environmental awareness Via pole dancing in beautiful landscapes throughout Australia.

Its only very early in its concept so I will post more details with the next photo.

Many many interesting comps to be had here at squeaky beach.

This particular day I spent an hour climbing up over and around rocks looking for a comp that jumped out of the view finder. Nothing, everything i was framing just wasn't working.

finally found this one, the good light had just started to warm, set up the gear, quick test at iso6400 to get exposure correct. and click first shot under way.

it would be the only shot taken the light faded as fast as it came.

Ive had to duck back into Melbourne to sort out some solar + battery issues.
If the weather is good I may go straight back, so many good shots to be had.

Was kind of hoping for a bunch of clouds, but in hindsight i think the simplicity of this shot works on another level.

2&3 stop soft to drag some detail out of the mountains. still needed a blend.

Shannon convicned me to grab my gear and meet him for an arvo shoot, cheers mate for this one.

Its amazing the difference in the 2 shots given we were only 2 metres away

My new hietech grads give a warm cast, combined with the magenta cast from the singhray gives some funky effects
I left some in the sky as i think it looks cool. (I took a bunch out, you should see the raw)

I shot this same comp the day before.

Got a fair shot, but i did some research and discovered the the tide was due to turn at sunset of this day.

Headed out from camp an hour or so before sunset,set up on the bank and waded out waist deep into the middle of Tidal River.

I'd checked the weather sat before leaving and saw that a heavy storm crossing Melboure was going to come close.

So I fired off a few test shots crossed my fingers waited and hoped the light, the storm, the wind and tide would all cooperate.

The cherry on top, an albatross decided to pose for the shot.

Is it greedy of me that every time i fired off the camera I was thinking, just one lightning strike.

Minutes after this shot the sky turned purple (such an amazing experience)

As I got back to the bank a couple asked me what i was taking photos of (they thought id spent an hour in the water photographing the albatross, when I replied "the sunset, she looked even more confused and said "but it set over there" pointing in the opposite direction.

In her defense, it was a stunning sunset but I was never turning away from this

This was the pick of the shots.

wow its been a while, 1 upload in i think 2 years and none in the last 12+.

a lot of hard work to get to this point where i can now concentrate on photography 100%.

Sam (beautiful wife) and i are now traveling around Australia for a couple of years with a 4x4 and a camper trailer.

This is the 2nd photo taken for the trip ill upload one of ladybath falls later.

From a month or so ago,
Just looking back over some of the recent raw files.

This raw file was underexposed out of the camera, and I hadn’t given it a second look until now.

I didn’t get all the noise out, but it’s acceptable

Exposure correction lightroom
color correction lightroom + CS3
noise reduction
Sharpen foreground

A stunning morning, Id promised a mate that I would get him a photo of longreef before he left town.

Id been out to this location several times with out much success. The afternoon previous I had been there and captured some great shots but had left my camera on a crazy high iso and ended up with post card sized photos.

I clearly remember not being to hung up on what was missed, looking forward to what might be the next day.

What a reward for a school boy error.

My very first sunset shot with a Pano Head.

Id been out during the day trying to figure out exactly how the pano head worked, and had noticed the clouds streaming over the horizon.

Lucky for me The cloud pattern held up right through till sunset.

The idea for the photo is pretty much as it turned out, a sharp in focus full moon shot through the faint soft silhouette of some twisted tree branches against what could be described as a midnight blue sky.

Always seeking maximum colour in sunset shots, this photo grabs me for the opposite reason, its absolute lake of colour is striking in itself.
