Reciprocity posted a photo:

Under the festoons of washing in Barrow-in-Furness (UK), in the late 1960's, a teenager shows off his new motorbike. He probably treated himself for his eighteenth birthday, saving up from his wages after giving his mother his weekly 'keep'. Although it was not made compulsory to wear crash helmets until 1971 it was most likely made a condition if he still wanted to be fed. One of the group tries to appear a little nonchalant, while secretly hoping to be allowed to 'have a go'. A younger boy is more impressed by the sound of the jingle from the 'ice cream van' and heads home as fast as he can.
