I have to admit that I was very scared to go out shooting seascapes again since the last time I was hit by a huge wave and almost loose all my gear. It was fun though, I'm not very pleased with the final images but I'm looking forward to go back soon.

Yesterday couple of friends and I went out shooting, we were hoping for a nice sunset on the beach, I was sitting on a rock taking this photo, the sea was calm but apparently a boat passed by not far away from where I was and a huge wave pushed me away. The rock where I was sitting was a bit high and there were a lot of sea urchins all around where I landed, lucky me I didn't land on any, my camera went deep into the water. I left my backpack in a "safe place" but the wave was very strong and went very far so all my gear was floating, I couldn't reach it. My friend Miguel jumped in the water to get my back pack but everything had been into the water for a while. I have everything drying at the moment using bags of rise, sadly I'm still hoping that any of my photo gear survives…

The SD card still worked, and this is the only photo I was able to take before the accident.

While doing a time lapse video with my D90, I couldn't resist keep snapping the beautiful sun set that I was seeing, so I grabbed my phone and started shooting with it, with the help of Snapseed for iPhone I was able to capture this beautiful moment.

I don't know if this ever happend to you, but I usually use one or two photos when I go out shooting ( usually landscapes ) I try to pick the best one, but sometimes when I go back and look at that old folder, I realize I missed other photos that now look good to me. This is one example, I just found this photo I took a while ago, I don't know why I didn't use it before but I really like it now, I feel like my editing skills have improved a bit since than so I'm guessing that could be a reason why I didn't know what to do with it before.

Have this ever happend to you ?

Experimenting with Bokehrama during a rainy day in Puerto Vallarta, I stitched together about 6 photos using my 35mm 1.8 lens, although it’s very hard to do it with this lens because of it’s lens distortion, it’s not impossible after fixing it with Lightroom. I can’t wait to get an affordable Samyang 85mm f/1.4 ( since the Nikon version is too expensive ) to keep experimenting with this technique.
